$20 Golden Nugget

One thing that I had quite a bit of success with at the GN was getting a room on a higher floor, away from the elevator and south facing view with the $20 trick after originally be assigned a poorer room location. This was always well worth the investment...

 

I stay at Golden Nugget once a month, usually under their 3-4 free nights and no resort fee offer.

The past 3 months, I've had the Carson Tower booked, and on checkin, I ask (no sandwich) if I could possibly get the Rush Tower because it's less noisy. They upgraded me in each case, and one time put me in the corner room.

This month, they said they couldn't and I stayed in the Carson Tower (the noise level was just fine with me, but it was a higher floor). It might have been because I checked in on a Saturday, and my previous checkins were on a Monday.

I was just checking to see if anyone had any recent experiences at GN.
I know when you check in at GN they have signs clearly posted offering you upgrades at a price which makes me feel like the $20 trick is not going to work.

 

I would be interested if there is news on this. In the past I've either taken the room I've paid for, payed when booking to upgrade to Gold or Rush, or accepted an offer at check in such as Xtra $10/day to move from Carson to Gold. This is over about 8 stays.

 

Been a few years since someone's posted here but I had a $20 in view while checking in asked if any complimentary upgrades were available and they upgraded me from a Carson Tower Room to a Rush Tower King Suite and waived the early check in fee!

 

Have a Carson Tower room booked for Monday the 27th of May through Friday the 31st. Has anyone had any recent experience in offering a $20 bill and getting a different tower? If so, was a different tower actually worth it or impactful to your stay being better?

 

I've stayed at GN several times and get all that just by asking.
