Not to rain on the rant here. but it's my understanding that urine is sterile, so when I'm standing at the urinal pissing like a racehorse, feeling the slightest sense of backsplash on my large meaty hands, I consider that to be sterilizing my hands.

Therefore, if you wash them afterwards you just ruined the sterility!

I've heard this too. But the fact that doctors test urine to check for health issues makes me think not everyone's is sterile.

Sterile is in the eye - or wanger - of the beHOLDER.

"It appears that the urban legend about urine being sterile has its roots in the 1950s, Hilt says, when epidemiologist Edward Kass was looking for a way to screen patients for urinary tract infections before surgery. Kass developed the midstream urine test (still used when you pee in a cup) and set a numerical cutoff for the number of bacteria in normal urine: not more than 100,000 colony-forming units (cell clusters on a culture dish) per milliliter of urine. A person tests “negative” for bacteria in their urine as long as the number of bacteria that grow in a lab dish containing the urine falls below this threshold. “It appears that the dogma that urine is sterile was an unintended consequence,” Hilt says.

This thread has the potential to become one of the all time great VMB pissing contests. Breakfast is ready. Now go wash your hands.

The buffet is what you gotta watch out for. You wash your hands before you go to eat, then every serving utensil has the potential to have been handled by the unclean.

I travel with a baggie of wet wipes and a bottle of hand sanitizer in my purse. After you dish up, sanitize!

I rarely get sick. I think after being subjected to every manner of poop, puke, etc., out here on the farm that I probably have developed a good immune system. If cleaning a dozen litter boxes a couple times daily doesn't kill you, it can only make you stronger.

Most disgusting thing is (so many!) people eating food with hands while playing slot machines, particular at bartops,
    and even licking their fingers.
slot machine buttons are 100 times dirtier than the toilets.

In my younger days I used to do that at one of my locals. There was a corner of machines, usually deserted that had one machine that I liked to play. I'd get an order of french fries and I'd just smack the spin button with the bottom of my fist. Wouldn't do it now, but at the time it seemed reasonable. :)

Just a tad off topic but...

    Morarji Desai

It was at the top. India's fifth prime minister Morarji Desai was a longtime practitioner and advocate of urine therapy. His well-know habit of drinking his own urine to cure illness was according to him a perfect solution for millions of Indians who can't afford medical treatment. While his idea might not have a huge following, various reports suggest that there is a small village called Amarpur in Madhya Pradesh, where people drink their own urine to keep themselves away from diseases. Not just this village, people across India are sporadically known to swear by the medicinal benefits of own urine.

In one of the medical seminars, at the best of his humor, Prof. B M Hegde, formerly the Vice Chancellor of Manipal University mentioned how we considered our PM Morarji Desai to be crazy when he used his own urine to treat illness, but do not hesitate to accept the fecal transplant method which is adopted to cure the diarrhea causing super bug.

I also have it on good authority* that by drinking the urine of someone more intelligent than I , it imbues me with some of their wisdom.

Seinfeld wasn't a program about nothing.....it was about everything. Any topic that plagued society was featured on that show.

We rolled across a couple of episodes of All In The Family - not no way, not no how could that show get cleared today. But if you think about it, it tackled a lot of hot-button issues of the time. You can get away with a lot more if you smile and laugh than if you don't. I think TV today panders to a very different demographic. Or that particular desired marketing demographic's taste and interests have changed considerably over the decades.

I just returned from vegas and watched typical bathroom behavior after reading this thread, I would agree that a surprising number dont wash, prob 1/3+.

I was kinda disgusted at first but finally said "F it", and I didn't wash either. :D

I'm not a total slob however, if i look down while going and notice that I'm pissing all over my hands, I will give them a quick splash to freshen them up.

My parents ghost would haunt me to death if I didn't wash my hands after bathroom time.

I will tell one anecdote, however, which may make a point with someone. One of my fellow Engineering Techs (ET's :)) a New York Italian all the way, would go into a stall and re-emerge a few minutes later. I started studying his behavior. I noticed he didn't flush, either. Turns out, he was diabetic and was embarassed to shoot his insulin and his desk, so he would go into a stall to do it.

    So, you really never know.

Not sure where this quote is from but thought it was appropriate for this thread "If men washed their hands every time they touched their penises, the world would run out of soap".

I was having a really good run at craps and went to “pee”. Watch a couple of guys walk out sans hygiene. Next thing I know they were at the other end of the table. Doubtful we would share chips but dice certainly. Yikes. Cashed out. can you imagine blackjack; same cards and chips over and over.

I carry hand sanitizing wipes with me, and wipe down the seats and the machines before I play them.

Since I worked in the casino business a few years back, what is on the chairs, at the tables and machines can curl straight hair. LOL

I love the purse size hand spray as well. Buy it at Wal Mart.

Agree, wash your hands as often as you can.
