Keeping my end-of-August trip for now, however, if this is the same situation one month from now, probably cancelling until wintertime.

I hope this isn't considered highjacking the thread, because I know it is in reference to July not August, but I have a trip planned for August 21 and at the moment still planning on going. I'm not in a high risk group because of age or anything like that. Just body weight. I know obese people, like yours truly, are somewhat at risk, but I've been doing some research on that and I think I'm as safe as can be based on things that I've read.
I've always been a germaphobe, so washing my hands constantly and wearing masks haven't really been a problem. I kind of enjoy the masks now that companies are putting out fun designs. I got some Las Vegas Golden Knights, UFC and a few masks with Flamingos and stuff like that that feel Vegas-ish. Just trying to make the best of a bad situation.
My friend and I have a comp at Cosmo for a few nights, a 2 bed suite overlooking the fountains, and plane tickets were only about $100 bucks and I have the vacation time at work. So as long as some restaurants are open, and some gambling is available (and the fountains are going) it will be a pretty fun trip for not a lot of money.
Plus a UFC Fight Night is scheduled for the 21st, so as long as a sportsbook is open somewhere on the strip, that will be where I do much of my gambling.

So it may not turn out to be a Vegas vacation in the normal sense that I like, but still a great weekend away from "real life"

    No bars...I'm out!

I've officially killed Hawaii and now Vegas. Anyone have a Plan C for my 25th Anniversary? :rolleyes2:

This is probably a good thing for everyone planning a trip to think about. We've talked about virus risk and people make their own decisions on that. But taking that risk to travel out to a place where you're not going to be happy seems ill advised. Vegas isn't going to look like "2019 Vegas" until this virus is behind us.

There isn't an order yet. There was a press conference about the things they were planning to put into an order. Hopefully there will be a lot more clarification once we get the order, but I'm not sure even then we will know how things will work on the ground. I hope I'm wrong and there will be clarity.

I have no idea. He said in the early part of the presser that he was looking at what other places are doing for water parks/pools. Then later the part about masks required unless you are actively swimming. Who swims in Vegas? :haha: I don't know what the plan is for "hanging out in the water". He seemed angry at people standing around without masks together in the pool at Flamingo a week or so ago, which is why I think it closed for a day or two. Hopefully we will have some clarity by the end of the day today.

It was expected to rise when things started to open, but not spike. The plan talks a lot about testing and contact tracing to control the spread, but none of that happened and the spike became a bigger spike, and so on. They have no choice but to roll it back until the caseload is under control again.

Can't say I've ever seen a swimmer doing laps in the pool with a swimmers cap on. Funny to think about though lol

I did, he was at the Flamingo at 9am, and his face was under the water. He was doing swimming laps before the drunk crowd.

Was supposed to go in two weeks. No bars has killed the deal for sure, not that I wasn't leaning on staying home anyway. This will be the fourth time this trip gets moved.

I'm still going...with the understanding it's just going to be different....Unlike my previous 20+ visits of drinking and dancing the nights away and playing throughout the day I am just going to turn it into more of a R and R trip, bouncing around to new Casino's on the outskirts, maybe taking a day trip to Laughlin, catching up on some much needed sleep and not feeling bad about getting up late and being lazy. I've sprinkled a few trips in like that before where I just scale it back and typically I come out of them better rested and charged than my typical trips anyway....it is what it is and just make the best of it!

I am not trying to be anti-mask at the pool at all. I am all for it. I am just curious how a mask *inside* the pool works. I mean, it will undoubtedly get wet. Which means you will be breathing in the pool water, chlorine, and God forbid, pee...

Unfortunately, yes. They shut down the bars. No VP for me (I don't play much, but I do like playing $40 and getting drink service at CET). Also, at my local bar, masks are required if you want to play the slots. No problem. After 20 minutes, I found it aggravating because I had to keep removing it to drink my beer, then back up. I can't imagine doing this for a few hours in Vegas. It seems like even walking on the sidewalk, a mask is required. I am all for masks (I wear them when I go shopping or quick errands), but where are the mask-breaks? Other than the room? I don't know, it seems like it is going to be a lot of trouble, more than it is worth to go. It is okay, though. Vegas will be waiting for me. :) Add in the fact that I like to do things by the minute. I'll have a general plan for the day laid out, but I don't like reservations, so the idea of having to make reservations for the pool, Charlie's, some other places, seems too daunting for me. I like to see where Drunk ffejry's legs take him. Drunk ffejry wouldn't be able to follow a reservation-filled schedule!

Well, I officially canceled Vegas. We're road tripping to random casinos in the Midwest that we've never been to. I just couldn't justify flying 6 hours to get a more watered down experience than I can get locally. As sad as it makes me, I'm more relieved and will get back to Vegas when it's more normal.

I'm still going to be a game time decision. A lot can change in a month so who knows. In any case I'm still going to be on vacation from work that week, I'm still going to be out 65 bucks for the cheapo economy non flexible non refundable fare (as opposed to three times that if I wanted those options) and I still have a comped room that I have 48 hours notice to cancel, so why do so now? To make other plans that could be equally tenuous? We'll see, but if bartop vp isn't going to be an option I'll likely pass. We'll see.

I’m booked for Aug 25-29 comp’d at Wynn & Bellagio so I definitely have time to see what it’ll be like then. I can cancel my flights with Delta & have a year to use them ( thank you Delta!). It just defeats the purpose of traveling over 4 ½ hrs in not very comfortable means & then not be able to enjoy Vegas like I’d like especially with masks at the pool, probably not being able to use Spas, restaurants & bars inside Wynn or Bellagio. If it was only masks gambling, that’s would be different but it’s the whole thing!

I think we may have more important things to worry about right now with COVD. I just hope this thing doesn’t hang around (& even worse?) for the remainder of the year in the Fall & Winter. The way our luck seems to be going in 2020 is hurricanes hitting us on the south east coast next!

While I'm cancelling, I have yet to make any calls or removing my countdown timer. Praying for a miracle. Lol
