I'm interested to see the pool situation next week. Not a deal breaker for us though, we usually only spend a few hours the entire trip at the pool.

The order as stated is pretty unambiguous. All bar tops have to be closed, even ones with gaming or part of a restaurant. Nothing in the announcement would preclude service bars, which is essentially what Vue bar or Furnace would become.

The problem for those who still plan on visiting is that the bars closing will drive a lot of folks away. With that drop in occupancy, expect to see a lot of other offerings disappear or be drastically reduced. It’s a real shame it got to this point, who knows how things may have turned out if the re-opening had been timed/managed differently.

If they have cocktail service and open restaurants I'm still leaning towards going. My fear though is that so many cancel, the casinos reduce operations as well, closing some restaurants and reducing cocktail service.

I'll let everyone know what I hear from the DTG tomorrow. I'm going to wait until after the order goes through so there is a definite answer if it is open or not. Hopefully, they can count the Furnace Bar since it has posted a food menu on the website for as far as I can remember. Haha those cheese curds are some good drinking munchies and I've gotten them many times. The only thing that might get in the way is that they are prepared in the Freedom Beats kitchen. As far as how it would affect drink service in the downtown casinos, from what I've taken from everything is you can still buy a drink at the bars, but can't sit at the bar. I'm not sure if I'm right on that, but, if that is the case I feel like the cocktail waitresses would still get the drinks from the normal places. Anyway, fingers crossed for some good news from the DTG at least.

This seems right. I don't like crowds, crowding or dopes. A little distance and a quiet setting won't bother me. This has been my biggest concern however. What happens if very few restaurants remain open? Life could get complicated. I'm no food snob but I have a quality threshold for meals.

I could be wrong, but here is my understanding of the masks at the pool. You have to wear one when walking out to the pool/cabana/day bed. Once you're there, you can remove it to lay out. Also, you don't have to wear one if hanging in the water, or if you're swimming in the water. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

We had to cancel our June trip and have since cancelled our September trip, too. Probably won't be out for an anticipated late January trip either. Flying across the country only to find a watered down version of what we love about Vegas isn't our idea of a fun vacation. Throw in the thought of having to wear masks everywhere in the desert heat and it looks like June 2021 will be the first time we return. Damn, going from 3-4 visits per year to once in 18 months is a kick in the stones but it's just not worth it for us. Our June 2021 bankroll will be our biggest we've ever had so that's a plus.

I don't drink in Vegas, or use the pool. So while I am still undecided, this pushes me towards going because I understand that this is important to other people. So more will cancel and the casinos will be more empty.

Vegas is my local. I prefer to fly there; driving would take 9 hours. Are there casinos closer to me? Yes, but I only gamble in Vegas.

Well I'm still still going. If my friends want to unwind the trip that is fine by me, but they're really looking forward to it and they are both in professions that have been really slammed in the last few months and years even so they really look forward to getting away. I doubt they will cancel.

My only concern is that overflow vp players are going to jam up the few remaining keno machines in Cosmopolitan, but I will figure something out.

In some ways this makes my itinerary tighter and healthier, as I was really feeling the call to go dive bar-ing at Dino's, but that won't happen for a while I guess.

I swam with an oversized t-shirt over my suit as an awkward teenager, so I'm sure I can manage a pool dip with a mask.

I really don't want Vegas entirely to close while I'm there!

A low strip trip? Could be….
Using up comps walkabout! Fingers crossed!

I canceled. I'll go to Tunica and drink/play vp at the bar instead.

Another 1,000 cases in Nevada today. Ugh.

Ugh. If Vegas is becoming anything like the current situation in AC, I will be staying away for quite some time.

Agreed. I'm just clarifying that Vegas isn't consciously choosing to be AC.

not sure why people are stunned by the spike - weren't we told back in April that cases would naturally spike once things started to open?

At the moment, I'm still planning to go the week of July 20. Work has been crazy busy and I need to get the hell away. I'm not a bar person (unless it's in a restaurant), the mask thing really doesn't bother me & I know how to follow protocol to help protect myself.
