From the website as of seconds ago... I’d contend that last sentence is untrue based on well-documented reports :hmmm:

    Curtis,

Since you look at this board (which is much appreciated), may I make a suggestion that perhaps you could suggest? Stop with the endless entries to drawings several to many days out that are earned while playing the machines. No doubt they are aimed at locals, but I suspect a majority of your players won't be around when these drawings take place. Honestly, it just gets irritating. I wonder how many cars, jackets, whatever I've won over the years playing there that I was not present to win. The Plaza, where you used to work, enters players into a drawing that occurs that night. My wife won $50 free play at one of those two nights ago. That made us happy! Drawings we won't be there to win are just annoying.

The DTG website says that video poker is $2 per point but $10 per point "for games with over 100% payback" which I don't think are there any longer. Is the website incorrect? https://www.downtowngrand.com/offer/welcome-to-grand-rewards/

Last time in Vegas, i played at the BJ tables for a couple hours with some slot play. Recieved two free nights
including resort fees, along with two tickets to the comedy club. Driving out tomorrow so Curt, i will look for you
on Thursday and say hello. We are hitting Hard Rock/Virgin (did the name change yet?) to go to the Sin City Sinners Xmas toy drive at Vinyl. if you like rock/hard rock, this will be an amazing show (ex band members of L.A. Guns, Stryper, Slaughter, Ratt, etc).
i will post later to expound on our D.G. trip.

Well, I should have checked this thread earlier to find out DTG has reverted their full pay VP back to crap. Guess I need to cancel my stay in March. For the record I dont care about your comped suite and steaks as much as I do a paytable, lol.

Yep, the DTG has gone back to being a vast VP wasteland, with very average VP:thumbsdown: and really below average mailers. :bang:

Walk one block to Fremont Street and play at the D (Vue bar) or the 4Q or Fremont (NSUD).

I've stayed at the DTG twice and absolutely love it. The casino is always slow, but it is by far the most classy casino downtown. For how small it was, they have a great selection of games. I think they have the nicest base rooms downtown.

I wanted to stay there for my trip at the end of the month, but the offer I received from El Cortez was much better this time around. However, I will be back to DTG!

I got screwed around a year ago by the DTG hosts. I received a person email from a host stating he could offer free rooms. But after replying and then taking forever for someone to get back to me. There were promise promises he would call me with dates. Never happened. And left a very bitter taste in my mouth. I’ve always wanted to stay there. But after that fiasco I can understand why there are so many question about their business.

I can find more details on what happened. I will have to search through my emails.

    cheers

    Besides all that Vp stuff,
they seem to have higher min tables than their nearby competitors.
Would be willing to try some BJ there, never did= never any red chip mins.
Craps seems to usually be be $10 min or more on weekends, played once, went well, great dealers, but same..
(I'm still a red chipper.. I can bet more, but I like the option not to)

I have heard the rooms are nice and quiet for dt, might try a stay sometime if comped, mostly just poke when we get pizza rock and current offer is $20 M-Thur Room.

Don't need to stay for FP offers though.
Also a nice respite from D/GG thumping loud music.

I'm not surprised. I sent an email on a Monday or Tuesday to my host asking for details on the drawings on Friday and/or Saturday.
He responded on Sunday AFTER the drawings were held.

@AyDee I am the same way. I like to option to bet smaller if I want to. But I admit I have loved playing craps at the DT Grand. The crews have always been fantastic and I have never had a losing session there.

There are too many questions about the DTG for me to put in any play at all there at this point. Them jerking around the VP pay-tables and the slotclub is an indication that either 1) management is unsure about what sort of players they would like to attract or 2) management takes a knee-jerk approach to setting the house holds on their games/machines based on how the place is doing financially overall (I am assuming not well). Neither of these two possibilities is a good sign. Walking into the (almost always nearly empty) casino, it is clear that the property needs to be attracting whatever players it can. Whatever they are doing now is not working. The Downtown grand, it seems, has forgotten where it is located, despite it being in their name. To get players to make the two block walk from Fremont street, they need to offer good VP, low table minimums, and have a generous (and above all *consistent*) slot-club.

They've been doing that for years. I LOVE the rooms at DTG and I feel really comfortable playing there. But every time I stayed there I had one problem or another, likely because the hotel and casino are run by different people and they don't often line up. When they first went to paid parking, the hotel and casino couldn't agree on what constituted a hotel guest getting the cost waived. Once I booked an offer with a small charge on Sat and a comp/comp for two days, and they wouldn't let me check in until I paid for all three nights because the host coded it incorrectly. I had a comp for a meal in the Commissary, but it was closed for the day and they wouldn't allow me to use it at S+O. I could go on and on (well, I just did, but you get the idea).

I would again stay there in a heartbeat if I (a) would ever get an offer again, and (b) I was confident that DTG's hosts and hotel played together nicely. As a matter of fact, in 2016 after the "Its a comp/No it isn't" incident, the hotel gave me a certificate for two free nights anytime (without worry about blackout). Three years later, I still haven't used it.

They really need to get their $#@% together. I always make a trip downtown and I stopped in on my last trip to take a look and really like the feel of the place. Rooms seem nice, pool looks alright in the photos. I was going to give them some play to see if I'd get some midweek nights comped for this summers trip but the one PaiGow table was full and the craps table was jammed. Also it's really hard to justify it when I consistently hear all these issues..... and it's also hard to put the money up for a room and pay resort fees when CET keeps throwing nights at me and the diamond card takes care of the fees. Looks like I'm 'stuck' on the strip :)

I have written many, many times about what a disappointment DTG has been. Some of my stories have been met with nodding and empathizing here.

They have never been able to keep any host over a year and many leave well before that. I have screwed them over countless times after I decided that they wouldn't get nary a dime from me and yet continued to send room and FP offers for YEARS!

Recently, Curt and Nathan from Plaza are now both at DTG. I have decided since I am coming to Vegas 2 times in Feb. to give Curt a chance to show what the DTG is like today. It doesn't bode well that they have once again started screwing with VP paytables and Tier requirements etc., but I find myself there for a couple of days to celebrate a big birthday. I will definitely be reporting in my findings. I'm crossing fingers that at least a short row there will go somewhat smoothly, but honestly my expectations are low. Plaza has also been pissing me off the last couple of trips, so wouldn't mind finding another home. Sigh. Why is all of this so exhausting lately??
