Yes huge gamechanger in the winter...better than a crock pot. We use it a lot in the winter, in the summer we grill.

Speaking of...tonight was asparagus wrapped in bacon and grilled chicken

Haha just my silly way of saying chunks of hickory. I just call them "bombs" because they "detonate" at strategic times when my fire spreads across the charcoal. Sorry about that.

Family brought home In-n-Out and I decided when I was in the kitchen I was craving cheese fries, as one does :goofy::haha: (burger not pictured was good as always )… crisped the fries up in the oven, made some quick queso, seasoned the fries out of the oven, shredded some Tillamook medium cheddar on top, then slathered on the queso… ohhhhh yeeaaaah that hit the spot :licklips::feedme:

So, tonight for dinner, something VERY different. I would imagine that this would be good to take on a camping trip. There are lots of YouTube videos on this, so I just took still photos.

So, what am I talking about??? Portable, disposable hot pot!!!

There are many brands out there, I chose this one (on sale at H-Mart for $10.99)

    Haidilao Beef Self-Heating Hot Pot

Very simple to make if you READ the instructions first. My son didn't read the instructions first and I had to stop him before he even started.

The self heating packet is water activated

After about 5 minutes, the water in the black bowl is boiling (steam coming out of the vent hole)
    upload_2021-6-29_20-16-16.png
    The finished product
    upload_2021-6-29_20-16-48.png
Comes with everything that you need to eat it with. Chopsticks, soup spoon, toothpick, napkin
    upload_2021-6-29_20-18-14.png
I thought that it was very good. 15 minutes after putting the heating packet in the container, I had a piping hot "hot pot". Enough for a meal.

Two things I don't like about the 3 qt. insta pot (and I have one)

1)The minimum amount of rice that you can cook is 2 cups
2)It's not quite big enough for a 2 lb. corned beef

Too much effort for me to do each time (heck, I barely take photos) but I am always happy to give a recipe if asked for it!

Same here, although often there are no recipes, or the recipes are just used as guidelines
