I got offers for free nights in "West Wing King room"...which I thought was odd because I have not played at MGM, in many years. I want to go for March Madness with some friends. Does the West WIng suck that bad? I have never stayed at MGM before. Is this wing, like really far from the casino, rooms are just small? What all is wrong with it. Any tips are appreciated.

I was comped in one and declined it after doing some online research and creating a thread. I would say that it depends on what you value. Because I actually spend 2 or 3 waking hours in my room per day, room quality is very important to me. Here's why I chose not to take the comp. West Wing rooms are small, dark and have weird bathrooms.

The West Wing rooms are small and dated but they are not terrible. I know a lot of people want room to spread out but if that's not you, the West Wing will work just fine. In addition, they are closer to the strip. I think most people don't like the lack of privacy with the bathroom and the fact that it is down a dark hallway but if it is a place to crash and not a priority for you, it is better than some of the lesser hotels I've stayed in.

    I'd probably go Mirage.

I wouldn't turn down comped rooms in either, but the location and general vibe of Mirage for me would tip the scales. I stayed in a standard room at Mirage for a night over Xmas and it was quite nice for the price point. Only downside on the room would be a smallish bathroom, but if that doesn't bother you the rooms are pretty great for their age. I like the vibe of the casino and while there's not a ton of food/bev what there is is pretty good.

MGM is more than fine and has a million options for food/bev but the place gets too crowded for my taste and it doesn't have the "Vegas-y" feel of a Cosmo or Venetian or even NYNY to me, too big and impersonal.

We've stayed in a West Wing room twice and it's been absolutely fine for us. I've stayed in a Caesars room also and yes, it's bigger, but it does the same job. Unless I win a massive jackpot I ain't gonna be doing cartwheels around the room. I've attached some pictures of the room taken October 2016 (life hack - put drinks on top of the air con unit at the side of the bed while it's on. Even kept a 5 litre jug of water cool just like a fridge until it was gone.)

It's really easy to access the strip if you use the West Wing elevators (opposite end of the corridor to the main elevator bank) and we were on the strip around 4 minutes after leaving the room and that includes waiting for the elevator. Out the elevator, round the corner and exit via the West Wing entrance. This brings you out on the service road behind what was the Grand Canyon Shop. 10 second walk to the strip. If you don't exit to the strip, keep walking and you're less than a minute from Starbucks, the sportsbook, slots, the buffet and the escalators that take you to the NYNY/Trop bridges. MGM gets knocked for how long it takes to get around but you just need to know where to go. Plenty of shortcuts! The way people feel about MGM, I feel about Caesars - it's a massive rat run to me.

I've attached some pics of our West Wing room from October 2016.

I vote Mirage on the location alone. I stayed in Mirage last trip and thought the location was perfect, and there’s as much to do there as there is at MGM.

I was wondering the same thing about the comped rooms at MGM I was offered a "tower suite" room. Is that a good room?

We stayed at CP in December, as well as the Mirage, and I thought as you do in comparing CP with the MGM....the place is just too big for my taste. I love the Mirage and we've stayed there at least 10 times. The location,
, pool, restaurants, sports book, and ambience can't be beat in my opinion. Have fun wherever you stay.

I've stayed in both, and liked both, but for different reasons. I prefer Mirage's location, and prefer the smaller size over MGM. MGM is a bit too big for me, but has great restaurants, and a great pool complex. I really liked the Grand King rooms. As I said, I prefer Mirage, but would have no issue staying at MGM for the right offer. I don't know what your comped rooms are, but the base rooms at Mirage (Resort King) > than base rooms at MGM (West Wing). For me, between the two, it comes down to this, if I plan to casino hop alot, I'll go with Mirage, for the location. If I plan to spend alot of time playing and eating on property, MGM is a good option.

I got a West Wing room last stay at MGM and asked to be moved. Creepy. I also don't like their slot selection. The only good thing about MGM in my opinion is that it is easy to get to the WAX for a dollar ride to and from the airport.

I am fine with the rooms at Mirage. I like their buffet and having cheesecake at Carnegie. (thank you, myVegas) The location is better for me. I usually split time between there and Gold Coast, which is an easy move.
