I have never had a regular sleep pattern but like NoStress I
can sleep in my lounge chair in the living room for some good
naps. Even when I work 14 hour days and am exhausted I still
only get about 3 1/2 hours at a time then I am awake.

One crazy thing I tried recently on the advice of a friend - I bought
one of those crazy weighted blankets. It does work. No idea why, but
I have been sleeping longer stretches at a time. And I can go to sleep faster.

I was hesitant to try it so I bought a twin size, 15lb to use in my chair but
I put it over me in the bed and it worked!! Nuts. And I didn't get hot and
I am a hot sleeper. I bought a cheapie too, not one of the expensive ones
and it still worked. Paid 39.00 on Amazon for it. I saw some for huge prices, but
I was only going to try it and if it didn't work give it to Goodwill, but it works!!

my sleep is all over the place. I get about 6-7 hours now and that usually suffices. A long laborious day I may take an hour catnap or so.

I used to get up every 2 hours but ever since a medication change I usually sleep the full 6-7 I lay down for

My sleep pattern is terrible. I'm lucky to get 2 hours rest at a time.
Then I have to watch TV to get sleepy again. This happens all
    through the night. It's maddening!

This pandemic has messed up my normal routine and sleep pattern too. I find myself staying up way too late at night and then waking up way too early in the morning. It's sorta like being in Vegas and having to deal with the timezone difference which usually throws my biological clock out of sync for a few days, but now it seems to be stuck. :goofy:

When the weather is cooperative I go to bed at 900PM and get up between 430AM and 500AM and run for a half-hour before cleaning up and going to work. When I'm in the habit of doing that 3 or 4 times a week, my sleeping quality is AWESOME (lots of restful/deep sleep) and I sleep though the night with interruptions so few and so insignificant that they aren't worth mentioning. My sleeping heart rate is around 60 in such cases.

If I haven't been running regularly then I'll wake up around 200AM or 300AM and it's hard to fall back asleep in less than an hour, plus the sleep quality is mostly light and I don't feel rested once I get up. My sleeping heart rate is 70-80. Then, about once a week, I'll be so damn tired that I get a good night's sleep. It sucks.

Sounds like a byproduct of getting older - I sure have noticed it. On days that I put a lot of miles in running, sleep is usually better, but not always. Would love to have 6-7 hours of uninterrupted sleep.

    When I worked I was up at 4am -
so I ......TRIED...... to get to bed by 10 pm. ( or earlier )
I did physical work w a long commute.....it was brutal.
Yes, I wake up alot during a night - but I have NO WORK WORRY, anymore.
    I retired last July..........and now ?
My amount of sleep doesn't matter to me, anymore !
As long as I can walk 18 holes + care for my 9 yr old -
    I'm okay.
Nowadays, I can fall asleep in my recliner at any time......until my 9 yr old decides otherwise.

Seems like since the pandemic and working from home my sleep is all messed up. Most nights I fall asleep by 10, then I wake up sometime between 1:30-3 and stay awake for the next couple of hours. I usually can't sleep past 7. I try not to get on my phone or watch tv, but like others have said, its boring to just lay there wide awake after a while. I've tried melatonin and that did nothing. Sleeping pills help a little.

I haven't been able to get a good 6-8 hours of uninterrupted sleep for the longest time. Most I would do is 4 hours.

Then like most of you I would stay up then fall asleep to get another 2-3 hours.

I'm retired now so I can sleep whenever but when I was working it was exhausting. My job was very physically and mentally draining so when I didn't get enough sleep it was horrible.

Before electricity this was the norm. They had a term for the break between sleeps when people would visit other people, sorry can't remember it.
