    My Trip Report

Heading to the airport first thing in the morning, so I figured I'd start this off now. My wife and I had a rough start to January and needed to get away so we booked a trip to Vegas. Unfortunately, my wife has been sick with a stomach bug so there's a small chance this may become a solo trip if we get up and she's still not feeling great. Here's hoping she's better in the morning.

I've only been out there once, a little over a year ago, and my wife has never been. I had a great time, though it was a much different trip than this will be. Last time was a guys trip and we spent a lot of time visiting strip clubs (don't worry, my wife is aware). This time we're planning more on restaurants, shows and gambling.

We check in at Planet Hollywood tomorrow and are staying there until Thursday. Valentine's Day on the strip was super expensive and I really want to try staying on Fremont Street so we're moving downtown to the 4 Queens on Friday. We just have regular rooms at both places, but I'm hoping to snag an upgrade at Planet Hollywood since it doesn't look like much is going on in town this week.

The other reason we're moving downtown is that we're going to see Blue Oyster Cult at the Golden Nugget Friday night (hence the thread title). I'm a huge BOC fan (my avatar and username are both BOC related) and was excited to see that they were on the schedule for the week we'd be out there. So that's what I'm super excited about for the trip.

    Other plans/must do's:
    - Mob Museum
    - Big Elvis at Harrah's
    - Rat Pack Is Back show
    - Drinks and cigars with Nordlicht.
    - Dinner at Golden Steer
    - Some Buffet (Probably Wynn)
    - Gambling (Craps, Slots, Video Poker - I might try Pai Gow and Baccarat)
    - Drinking/Smoking/Basically Destroying Ourselves

    Theme Song:

"In a desert way-house, poised on the brink of eternity."

Will plan on updating with pictures and stories! Didn't get any pictures of the dogs before we dropped them off at the kennel. :( Miss them already.

Made it into town about 3pm. Surprised my wife with a presidential limo sedan. Driver was awesome. Gave us a bunch of restaurant suggestions and took us to a dispensary before dropping us at Planet Hollywood.

Checked in and asked if any comp room upgrades were available, but they said no. I asked for a room with a view and they were able to hook us up with that. Got a room facing the Bellagio fountains.

Had a quick bite at Miracle Mile. I ate at Lobster ME. The Connecticut roll was buttery and amazing. Wife ate Earl of Sandwich and said it was great. We'll eat at fancier places later.

Now we're resting in the room. Might take a nap and then hit the casino.

    Why is gambling so expensive?

Played some slots and bubble craps. Lost. Had fun.

It's 1am for me so time for bed.

Definitely would have been my theme song if it was closer to May. One of my favorite songs though!

Woke up and grabbed bagels and coffee downstairs. Getting ready to head downtown for the mob museum and some lower limit gambling.

Side note, I had to explain Vegas to my wife. Within and hour of being here yesterday she almost engaged a time share salesman and got pulled into a makeup shop where they were trying to hard sell her on $1000 skin creme. She's too nice for this town. Heh.

Some mob museum pictures. Loved the Breaking Bad suit.

Now we're at Pizza Rock and they're playing Megadeth. Awesome.

Played some slots and craps at 4 Queens. Both of us scored Silver Strike coins. No other luck though.

Here's my coin and the cards we got for signing up for the 4 Queens players card.

Hung out with @Nordlicht last night at the Davidoff Lounge. Great drinks and cigars. He introduced me to Skelton cigars which are smooth and taste amazing. Had a lot of fun and interesting conversations. We're planning on meeting back up to play some craps together. Sounds like my wife is interested in learning craps too so there goes more money. :goofy:

I wasn't feeling great when I got back to the hotel. I just didn't eat enough yesterday. Woke up and headed down to Ocean One for their $5.99 breakfast. Can't beat that price and it was actually good food. Feeling refreshed now. Wife is still sleeping so I'm going to head down to the casino for some morning Buffalo slots.

Today's plans are Big Elvis, Saw Escape Room and Rat Pack Is Back show.

My wife and I are going to be staying at PHo in 10 days and I have a feeling that Ocean One is going to be a place that we frequent. Have you tried the Pampas Brazilian place? I'm thinking we may go there one afternoon for lunch and curious if it will be worth it.

I haven't. Wasn't even on my radar, but I looked it up and damn it sounds good. Too many restaurants to try here.

Have a great trip! This is my first time at Planet Hollywood and everything had been great so far. Wish the tables were cheaper, but that's the strip for you.

It has been a couple of years but since PHO is the the wife favorite place to stay we have eaten at Pampas several times. It is pretty good but I also leave in a meat coma. Check Groupon for offers because in the past we got pretty good deal for them.

Havent eaten at Pampas but did see a groupon very recently for about $30 for lunch for two and one hour of unlimited adult beverages. If it's even mediocre, that's a good deal. They had a dinner option available too but it was nearly double the price.

Big Elvis was a bust. Took the monorail up to Harrah's only to find his shows canceled today. We still had drinks at the piano bar, watched some karaoke and then went over to O'sheas for Frozen Baileys and video poker. Got a Straight Flush but was only betting min cause the bet max button was broken and I didn't know you could just hit the bet 1 button 5 times to get to max. Oh well.

Also, the monorail is a bit of a hike from Planet Hollywood. But I wasn't going to be so lazy as to order an uber just to go up to Harrah's.

Now back in the room resting before Rat Pack. Hope they don't no show as well.
