I have the TCM app on my iPad and last night I streamed “Meet Me in Las Vegas” with Cyd Charisse. A little corny, but it was supposedly set at the Sands.

Wow, that Cyd Charisse can really dance and her high kicks are incredible. There is a memorable scene where she gets drunk and jumps up on stage and dances with the showgirls, very funny. If you’re a fan of musicals and Vegas, you can’t go wrong.

Saw a great one tonight called Frank & Lola, staring Michael Shannon as a cook who ends up with a restaurant in Encore, its 18+ for sure with Nudity and a pretty dark mood, its not a Vegas party movie/comedy thats for sure

Not about Vegas, but the level of gambling degeneracy is unrivaled in "The Gambler" with Mark Wahlberg and John Goodman. Excellent movie.

I have to chime in here.

Viva Las Vegas with Elvis Presley is my "go to" movie before a trip to Vegas. Okay, the movie is old and so am I. LOL

Vegas and Elvis still get my heart going pitter pat....LOL:wiggle:

I really don't think I dislike any movie about Vegas but that said I thoroughly enjoy Last Vegas simply because I could see that being me and my group of guys that I go out with and Vegas Vacation...one simply cannot go wrong by watching that movie, anytime, day or night. It's still got one of my favorite one liners from a movie ever, that coincidentally most people miss when watching it!

    "Hard 6 coming out"?

The MPAA might have missed that one since they gave a PG for this movie. Lol

Not in any particular order. I have a ritual of always watching one of these the night before a Vegas trip.

My all time favorite is "Vegas Vacation". The Hangover and Last Vegas are two of the more recent ones that are on my top 10 list of Vegas movies.

If anyone remembers the movie "Mars Attacks" from 1996, part of the movie was filmed in and around the Vegas area. From what I recall, the destruction scene of the "Galaxy Hotel" in the movie was the actual demolition of the Landmark Hotel which was located by Convention Center Dr & Paradise Rd.

Great thread. I like any movie about Las Vegas and have seen most mentioned. I never purposely watch movies before going to Las Vegas, but I remember movies about Las Vegas that made me curious about the place before I ever set foot on it for the first time. There is Rainman, I fell in love with Caesars Palace in that movie; there is The Only Game in Town, it had Elizabeth Taylor and the guy who would play later the creator of the Strip, you know, the brother of that girl who appears briefly in the first Ocean's 11, Shirley McLaine; The Las Vegas Story, with Jane Russell, a protege of the very rich guy who bought the Desert Inn when he was told to check out of it; and last but by no means least, one of those technicolor 1950s musicals with Cyd Charisse, Meet Me in Las Vegas.
