    Hey all!
Booked a trip on priceline bidding for the room. Got 4 nights at DTG Sat Aug 26-Wed 30th. With tax and insurance it's was 280.00. Quite a deal since on their website they want 225 for Sat night alone...however, here is my query. I've read mostly negative things about the place. (Casino, service, noise, rooms etc..)
And I see their resort fee is 25 a night.
Never stayed downtown before and thought this would be nice start. How are the rooms at fremont, or Cal, or 4q?
A quieter room would be nice, cleanliness is a ABSOLUTE must, good drink service etc. Just looking into saving a few bucks and having the best experience thanks guys!

Did you bid through their opaque bidding tools? If so, you can't cancel. You can only cancel if you made a standard, cancelable reservation through their non-opaque travel agency.

DTG is going to have better rooms than the other places in my opinion based upon what I've read, but I've not stayed in all four of them.

Also, I wouldn't really get too fired up about the casino in where you are staying on a priceline reservation of any of the four since you can go play wherever you want downtown from any of those casinos and you can't get backend comps if you book through something like priceline. Go where you want and establish a base there for the next trip.

Downtown Grand is a fine place to stay. Really the only comparable room would be a remodeled West Tower room at the Cal. The resort fee does suck, and the other hotels you mentioned are sans resort fees.

But like The Rumor said, you won't be able to cancel your Downtown Grand reservation since you bid for it on Priceline.

You're only a short walk from Cal, 4Q, and Fremont. So check those casinos out during your stay at the Grand and decide which one you like best for your next trip.

Downtown Grand is a great place to stay. The rooms are newer and clean. My first stay downtown was at DG and every trip since has been downtown. You may just never stay on the strip again...

DTG would be my preference of those three every day of the week. Newer rooms, nice pool, least smokey casino, friendly dealers.

I have stayed at DTG, not the others and felt the room was pretty nice plus being off the FSE, there as no noise from the light show.

Unless if you can cancel with no penalty, and rebook elsewhere at a significant savings, I wouldn't bother. the grand rooms will be fine and you can make your own judgement about the casino, it's "nice" just not very busy.

I only have stayed at the Grand once and looking forward to staying there next month. The rooms are really nice, friendly dealers, good cocktail service, and beautiful pool. Yes, the resort fee does suck! I personally like the location being slightly off Fremont Street away from the craziness.

The newly renovated west tower rooms at the CAL are probably equal to the Grand. I also love the CAL due to the location off Fremont and easy access to MSS.

Hope you enjoy downtown as much as I do.

I have stayed at both 4Q and DTG. For location, you can't beat 4Q, for "newness" you can't beat DTG. It depends on what's important to you.

Personally I like DTG. The rooms are bigger, more comfortable and nicer than Fremont. The walk to the canopy is only a block, there is a pool with bar. Pizza Rock and Tripple George are right there so food options are OK.

One thing about downtown, is you can get to the other properties rather easily unlike the strip where it can be a long walk to find an exit. Fremont and 4Q put you right under the canopy, yet you can get some noise there alos. Not to say DTG rooms are always quiet, try to get a room which does not face 3rd street near the pool.

I think you made a good choice for 1st time downtown. I like a quiet and decent room as possible and pool time. If I were to stay downtown it would be DTG or GN Carson Tower. If you are coming from staying in strip hotels, DTG rooms (or Golden Nugget) will not be as drastic change as Fremont Street hotels.

+1 for these mentioned by others:

    - Bidding on Priceline is non-cancellable. I know from personal experience. I've done it for stays at Caesars and Red Rock.

    - You do not get rewards credit for your stay; however are free to play wherever you want without being penalized for low ADT during the stay. Don't give the front desk your rewards number, you may get a teaser offer if rewards doesn't check you stayed.

Look into getting an American Casino Guide from Amazon, many downtown properties with two-fers, free play and match play.

Thank you everyone for your reply. I think with what I've learned from you guys I will keep the reservation.
I think a less crowded place a block off the craziness of FSE will be wonderful.
I usually stay at Flamingo in a GO room, so I'm looking forward to trying something new. We have been spending more time downtown on our trips and decided it's a MUCH better bang for your buck all around, our first instinct was the DTG we liked it when we played there on our way to the Mobile Museum. Seemed very clean & good VP. I was pleasantly surpised when I bid on priceline not knowing what hotel I would get. Since this is where we initially wanted to stay in guess it was meant to be! Happy gambling y'all:)

We've stayed at DTG, 4Q, Cal, MSS and Plaza. All on comps so no resort fee, but I was happy with our stay at DTG. Nice room, nice pool. I've fallen off their list, so no more comp offers, but you'll like the rooms. Some on here have complained about some of rooms being noisy because of Hogs & Heffers. No experience with that.

Not me, I would never stay at DTG as long as their rates are higher than MSS and the Cal. Resort fees just add at least a hundred or more to my stay so I wouldn't even consider staying at the DTG unless their rates (including taxes and resort fees) were lower. But I'm mostly a Boyd patron so I would rather stay where I play. DTG has lousy gambling IMHO so I avoid that place at all costs. Others will disagree and stay and play there but not me.
