I am just curious... Has anyone ever received an e-mail from the Casino management saying that your play was too strong over your last few trips and that you will not be eligible to ANY current or future free room offers as well as free play offers? (After 10 years of loyalty and regular offers)

Mostly VP and some Slot... and I just want to specify that i'm not blaming the Casino I consider that they are free to do whatever they want with comps!

Sounds more like the casino thinks you aren't putting enough play so don't qualify for any more offers. I can't see the casino not wanting your action if you are putting in "strong" play. I think it's probably a "nice" way of giving you the hint about your play not qualifying you for offers and freeplay. But this is JMHO.

Makikiboy: I don't think it is about my level of play because we have a high level card for years at this Casino... but maybe I didn't give you enough details...

To put you guys in the context we have visited this particular Casino last Feb and got an offer for free rooms and FP (as usual) so we booked a room for June and we recently received an email saying this:

    Hi, ….

Please note that effective immediately your account has been excluded from future mailers, tournament invitations and free play promotions. As such, I have changed your upcoming reservations to casino rate from the earlier complimentary stay offer.

You may still play at … but will not be eligible to ANY current or future free room offers as well as free play offers. This is nothing personal as you've been a gentleman throughout the course of your stay. Your play's algorithm has triggered this based on your play's result and the type of machine you play.

If you have questions pertaining to this matter, please don’t hesitate to contact me directly. Thank you for your kind understanding in view of this matter.

(Some parts of the email have been deleted to preserve the identity of the Casino)

Hopefully now it is more clear, and again the point of my thread is only to see if this kind of thing is common because I never heard about something like that in the past so I was a bit surprise by this message even if I do respect their decision. (And I must admit that I would probably do the same with someone who win too often over few trips)

My offers at Sam's Town dropped from 3 or 4 nights with Gold Card and some FP to only 2 nights comped. This was with consistent play, but at the same time they moved all the full pay JoB to one bank of machines and not long after my trip labeled them "excluded from promotions and multipliers".

I would talk to management and ask them to be more specific. I would also move to another casino. I hope you have not been black-listed at other casinos as well.

It still sounds like you aren't putting enough play in to warrant the comps. Another thing might be the tightening of comps so you have to put in more play to get the comps like you got before. We all have noticed that some companies (like Boyd) has tightened the comp nights. It could also be some kind of reorg within the company and they aren't giving out the comps as much as before.

But as someone else mentioned, I would call a host to find out what's going on and why they rescinded your comp nights. Best to get the info directly from the host or management to find out what's going on.

While we haven't gotten the type of letter you received some of us noticed that the comps have been harder to get. Mailers have shown reduced comps from before.

I would agree it's not level of play. The algorithms are telling them that you play high payback machines with pretty much perfect strategy. Do you also take advantage of multiplier days and their other offers? It's just been determined that you won't make the casino any money.

I would inquire and quit them also. I implies that no matter what you do, the offers will not chage. This must be because perhaps you have gotten ahead on them.

What is your level of play? how much do you bet each bet and also how much have you won? that might help everyone understand. Also not that it is that important but out of curiosity, what Casino is it? or location?

Well, I am gonna try to answer all your questions, except what casino it is because I don't want to bash on them since I think it is their right to do whatever they want with comps.

My level of play is about 20-30K / day, we use to visit them 3-4 times / year and... with them, I am maybe ahead of about 10-15 K for the last year.

For nostresshere: what will be the point exactly to say that if we didn't get this letter ?

And yes, in this case I have the feeling that nothing will change no matter what so I will just move to another casino this not a problem at all in Vegas :p

I also just found an answer to my original question online... A woman with a similar situation also got this kind of letter from this casino... And she was playing only $2 or $5 VP as well... so this kind of thing seem to happen more than we could think!

This kind of things happen all the time.
    Casinos routinely exclude "non-profitable" player.
If you consistently win (even if you just one of the few lucky gamblers),
or always play on "over 100% payout" machines,
or only play during special promotion days,
the casino will mark you and send you such a letter.

Just move on to other casinos.

The objective of this letter is pretty straightforward. They're not really "backing you off". Rather, they're reneging on their earlier offer of comped rooms. Since this would come as a shock to any loyal patron, they've given their reasons why.

This line does all the talking, IMO...

"Your play's algorithm has triggered this based on your play's result and the type of machine you play."

Like It's Only Money said, they've effectively concluded that you're not going to make any money for them, since you seem to be winning or breaking even (i.e. "your play's result"), and playing full-pay machines (i.e. "the type of machine you play").

I don't think there's anything you can do. I'd be repeating age-old wisdom by saying "the casino only wants to keep losers around".

I suppose that from a business perspective, they figure letting you come in and play won't cost them very much money. As a player who's not getting comped, you're literally only costing them electricity to run the machine, the cost of any complimentary drinks they give you, and the opportunity cost of not letting another player play that VP machine, presumably more profitably. On the possibility that you'll go on a dry spell with no royals, that could end up profitably for them. But to give up sure revenue in food, room, and other comps, in addition to giving you an incentive to stick around, is not a profitable proposition to them.

I wouldn't even bother replying at first. I'd get set up at another casino, go for a trip there, and wait for comp offers to come in. Then, I'd send a copy to your host there and say that if they want your business back, they'll have to beat what this new place is offering you.

Of course, that does expose you to the possibility that they might call up that casino and let them know about your "skills". But I think that the right thing to do here comes down to your objective. If it were me, I'd shop around for another property. My objective is to play, not to try and fit into somebody else's profitability formula that they suddenly decide doesn't work with me anymore.

I don't want to guess which casino, because it doesn't really matter.
But I heard that South Point is very active in doing that, to put it in a gentle way.

Definitely agree with many of the points, great write-up!

The only thing I might be a little wary of doing is letting them know where you went. Hosts DO talk, and if your old casino is annoyed, they might warn the "new place". I remember one poster had this problem in a smaller casino. He too was blackballed from any offers at a certain hotel, so he found a new one. He had offers at that new hotel, offers that were promptly revoked, after his old hotel cautioned his new hotel about his play. :( (He said his new hotel TOLD him this...just as they rescinded his comp/marketing offers.)

Granted I am a bit "hope for the best, but plan for the worst," but I don't know that I'd risk letting my old hotel even know where I went. (I also wouldn't mention your old hotel to a new host...just bury it.)

So sorry OP, 15k-30k daily is a lot, but DEFINITELY nowhere in the whale figures...this is an eye-opener that this can happen to non-whales.

I DO love your positive approach though! I'd take it as the ultimate compliment that you're playing savvily enough to elicit this type of response...you definitely know youve been squeezing out every comp dollar possible....versus the dreaded "under-comped."

Just go to a new hotel, let sleeping dogs lie. This DOES make a cool story for friends though..."I had my playing strategy down so tight they blackballed me!" Not many can claim that! :)

Did this line from the email received raise any red flags to anyone?

"This is nothing personal as you've been a gentleman throughout the course of your stay."

I can see the "nothing personal" part. The rest of the sentence sounds suspect in such an email.

I'm going to say that the OP took advantage of a couple very nice offers(maybe even on the same trip within days of each other), short played those offers(and perhaps others during recent past stays)while fishing for offers at other properties, maybe had a nice quick hit or two, and the unnamed casino is no longer going to CET, I mean set, him up.

Why do I think this? History. https://www.vegasmessageboard.com/forums/index.php?threads/how-long-does-it-take-to-get-offers-from-mlife.137694/#post-1464755

It's their business, but pulling a comp that was previously issued is not real classy. Simply honoring the offer, then ceasing to extend further ones, would have been more palatable.

Why protect the name of this casino? They are Lucy Van Pelt "holding" the football for you Charlie Brown. If a casino treats their customers this way, this board is the perfect place to share that information.
