Hope this is the best place for this thread, if not I apologize

Going for the first weekend of Tournament (Thursday-Sunday)... anyone have good recommendations for places to watch the games? Food and drink + seats would be nice.

I know it will be crazy and I'll likely have to pay some cash, but some places just seem crazy to me:

    Lagasse is $300 a person??
Mirage Sportsbook (where we are staying) is charging $115 for a "Standing room only lounge w/ free select alcoholic bevs"... standing room only?

I was looking at Beer Park for $150 a head, but feel like we will just be sandwiched inbetween a group on some bar stools (just two of us)

Any recommendations appreciated for best bang for buck :)

    Thanks!

It all depends upon what you are looking for. I'd rather sit at a 21 table or stand at a craps table with the games on a TV next to them rather than pay that, but it's your money.

If you want bang for your buck, the parties on the Strip are not going to offer you that. You will get better value downtown, off strip, or by not going to a party.

Given where you are staying, the best deal for you may well be hanging out at Casino Royale with its $1 beers if all you want to do is drink and hang out a little.

Also FYI betting windows are packed. If you can get there a day or two early that will save you some time. Also some of the casinos open up alternative betting spots that have shorter lines on game days. For example, Aria has had one up the escalators in recent years that was easily 20-30 minutes faster than the line downstairs.

My buddy goes every year to Vegas for the first weekend and he really enjoyed Red Rock. I don't know any details but he's a regular Vegas visitor.

For sure getting in Wednesday night - I'll do all betting night before (unless I want to get in on a halftime line or something crazy)

Yeah I just wanted a spot where we can post up and relax eat/drink while watching the games. I don't care mind the $150, but figured I'd rather get bang for buck if I can.. I don't even mind Twin Peaks or somewhere like that if it's a better set up

Seems that most of the parties that are free or dirt cheap just get you in the door to watch games. Alot of the restaurants/bars the fee counts towards the food/beverage minimum. Most of the casino viewing parties include beer and food, some liquor some not.

So all depends on what you are wanting to do? Big drinkers, then go with one that includes open bar, picky eaters then stay away from the ones that include food, etc.

Hooters at the Palms might not be a bad choice. It's cheap, and they have a bunch of TVs. It can get crowded, so get there early for a table. But you can watch basketball all day if you want.

I am also staying at The Mirage and my group of 11 will be at The Still in the Mirage for all of Friday. I believe the beverage only (no food included) minimum is now $150 pp which, considering it is St Patty's day shouldn't be too much trouble. I like the fact that we will have a designated space for home base all day but can venture out for a few hours if we feel restless. And it is close to the sports book and the elevators back to the room.

I wouldn't expect good food for a $100-$150 cover. It's going to be cheap fried stuff.

I think people underrate doing something like sitting at Giordano's while having a big pizza and a pitcher for 2 hours. It's a lot cheaper and just as enjoyable to me.

I have tickets from my host for the 16-19 party's at PH. I know we won't go all 4 days to the viewing party so I'd willing to sell them.

Hilton/Westgate was a laid back place to watch. Not too crowded, good food/beer prices.

Dynasty, my group is looking for 1 wristband for Friday. Would you be willing to sell a single (or depending on how much you want, may buy both). I check in at PH on Wed morning, so could meet up anytime Wed or whatever is convenient.

Treasure Island has a freE watch party. Orleans, Gold Coast and South Point have all gotten good reviews for tinier free parties too! The MMILV FB page should help you a lot!

For your betting, MLife also has the app for your mobile phone. I used it for the SB and it was great. I only needed to stand in line to set it up and make my initial deposit. I left cash on my account for my next visit, very convenient. If you are getting in Wednesday I highly recommend setting up the account and skipping the lines.

Another vote for the Westgate. Drawback is getting there, since it's somewhat off the beaten path. They have a huge sports book, and last year tournament viewing was free in their large theater. Comfortable seats, good crowd, decent beer and food prices. We spent Thursday there and didn't find anything better elsewhere over the next three days.

Is it a challenge to cash out with the MLife betting app? That would be really nice especially for halftime wagers, etc..

My biggest reason for wanted to buy a ticket to one of the viewing parties is to avoid getting up at 5 AM to get a seat somewhere, I may end up just winging it--- do you all think places like Twin Peaks/Tilted Kilt will be impossible to get a seat at as well?

Forgot to post - I would be interested in some wristbands for Thursday or Saturday if you can part with one of those days? Let me know
