Earlier this year, I reached out to Kevin about matching an offer I received at the Wynn. He did so, and our stay was awesome! 4 nights, fountain view, free play, food credit, VIP check-in....

(This is was going to be my third stay at Cosmo including the initial invite). Now a few months later I reach out to my host, JM about staying again...the offer I received was similiar, but JM's response was not!

His response was COLD! "Unfortunately, our promotional offers do not include fountain views, but for a nominal fee, you can upgrade at check-in. You play simply doesn't warrant it."

My offer expires mid stay, and he states that he will,"...have to receive approval to extend the offer."

    Anyone experience this?

you have to play to stay , they epect xxx for u to get y.
well if u dont need the fountian room whats the big deal or take it and have them comp it off the back end as ur play warrants its.

its wasnt cold u still got an offer he was being honest .if u wanted cold u should have heard what they said to me that i never posted it was very insulting.

Short and to the point without beating around the bush....I like it. That's how a host should communicate, IMO.

Indeed. While I do appreciate someone who's pleasant and friendly, and I'd hate to have to hear that I can't get what I once did...in the end, I'd rather know exactly where I stand.

And let's face it, the economy is better and comps are harder to come by. What once earned a fountain view may now just get you run of the house.

I would guess a combination of the following took place:

a- Your play is either lower than before, or you have settled into a level that does warrant the same comps you got before.
b - They are a bit busier on your dates, so you slid down the ladder
    c - Weekends vs weekdays?
d - They have changed their paremeters for comps which pushed you down a level
e - the host is trying to move his numbers up a bit and did not want to give you so much (doubt this, but possible)

a bit short, but not out of line yet. one of those take it or leave it things. BTW, how much is that nominal fee? maybe you could ask for a complimentary upgrade at check-in, or the $20 trick.

It's never fun to be turned down, but they're pretty stuck doing by what the computer shows and if your play doesn't warrant the upgrade, you won't get it.

JM is also my host and he's a good guy. I appreciate that he tells it like it is.

Thanks all!! I appreciate the feedback. It was just as surprise...last trip he made a point to find me on the floor to say hi, and see if there was anything I needed...

In all due respect to the host - there is a reason they find you on the floor and say hi. One reason only - hope that you will play/donate even more. Let us not forget that is their job.

i always tell people to see what more important a better room suite higher floor or do you want food or spa or tickets becuase unless ur on an unlimited comp your only getting some off it,so if u dont need the best room and free food is more important tell the host .u will down grade so he can pick u more off your other stuff.

The other thing to keep in mind, is the Cosmo is a "hot" property right now. You are competing against some of the biggest gamblers in the world, AND, people who are willing to just pay for the rooms.

My take is that your host had high hope of your play. But your actual theo during the stay probably lower than he hoped.
So the future comps will reflect that.

While I agree with most of the responses here, the Cosmo is VERY fast to turn cold to you after a lower play trip. They are known for this. I realize it is their job to encourage play, but no other casino cuts you off as quickly IMHO.

If you don't have a host, it will take one "comp-cycle" to see the effect of a low-play. (for Cosmo, their comp-cycle is shorter than most other casinos)
If you have a host, you can see the effect immediately. Some hosts even black-list players right way.

Basically all I can say is don't chase comps. Go to Vegas have a good time maybe even pay for the trip yourself. Don't be controlled by comps. Look at it as a trip and a vacation like any other vacation. If you still want to pursue comps then fine but be prepared to be get less and less because they want to make record profits every year and sadly that comes from you and I. They have you buy the balls if you chase comps. Why give them the power for what i consider a very expensive holiday.

I had a similar experience with my most recent trip request at Cosmo. I had a standard 2 night comp (same offer for the last 4 years), when I asked my host if he could do one more night comped here is what he said :

I don’t want to comp any more. You are already over comped for you play level. Your comps are double where they should be for this year and also too high lifetime.
We will have to start curtailing your room comps or you will need to step up your play level.

Short and too the point I guess. In all fairness, he's probably right.
