Planet Hollywood banning cigar smoking in casino

Spent 5 days at the PH last month. Was walking out of the casino and a security guard came up to me and mentioned that they have banned cigar smoking on the casino floor. This was about halfway thru my stay. I enjoy smoking a cigar and playing VP or slots ( I don't light up if some one is sitting within a couple of chairs from me) I had smoked several cigars at the machines on the first couple of days and had security walk by me and not mention anything. I did catch up with another security guard and just ask him what the rule really was (trying to confirm) what the other guard had stated.
It turned out to be a bit different. He mentioned that if you are playing a slot, they are not going to come ban it. They just don't want anyone walking around in the aisle's and smoking. Guess I can be just fine with that, I understand folks disdain for cigar smokers. I try to be careful where I light up. Cause I don't like sitting next to cigarette smoke. Spend much of my next couple days at the Cosmo gambling.

 

I won't even walk around with a cigarette, more folks don't smoke then do now.

 

Sounds kind of silly. Either you allow smoking or you don't. Sounds like they are discriminating against cigar smokers a bit.

 

I'm a 25 year cigarette smoker who kicked the habit about 20 years ago. Even when I was smoking, I hated the stench from cigars.

My wife has all sorts of jokes about penis size and cigars.

That would be awesome. My wife walking around cigar smoke equals an instant asthma attack for her.

 

You can still smoke the white owl in the men's bathroom.

 

This in the city of debauchery and decadence...... Is this turning into a city of Political Correctness when all we want is for the politicos to leave us alone? Can we have one place in the U.S. to be left alone and be free to indulge in our base instincts and have fun. Do we have to ensure noone is offended. If so, I am sure the poor are offended that we throw good money after bad when we could be giving it to the less fortunate. Is Vegas turning into San Francisico?

 

I agree. I want debauchery and decadence when i go to Vegas even though i don't partake in it. I don't smoke, i hardly drink at all, i go solo but don't hire hookers, etc. Vegas is Sin City, i want to be offended, i want cigar smoke blown in my face, i want hookers asking me for dates even though i'll politely say no thank you. I'm a peeping Tom in a different way. I'm am outsider looking in.
For a few days i get to see people in their natural habitat. That's why when i'm in Vegas anything can happen. I just keep a safe distance, never infringing on what other people do.

Sorry, I hate the smell of cigar smoke but I'd rather you smoke it in the casino than in a piano bar. At least in the casino I can move somewhere else if I don't like it but your options are really limited in a piano bar. Last time we were in the one at Bally's/Paris we had to leave because there were three different tables smoking them and you just couldn't escape the smell.

I have equal intolerance for cigar smoking as do many people in general. My comparison as a nonsmoker is that the smell could be the same if someone lit a rolled up dried turd. Maybe I'll do just that sometime and see what happens.

 

Definitely a cigar smoker.

As a former smoker many years ago I would prefer they make all casinos nosmoking but that would be highly doubtful, the casinos would lose too much money without the revenue from the smokers.

 

Political correctness lol? Nah. Want to be left alone to smoke a cigar? I want to be left alone to not smell that crap. It's a vile, repulsive, offensive, nauseating, noxious odor. Good riddance.

 

What FumDucker came up with that rule ? So I sit at a machine with a nice Arturo Anejo, light up , and cannot move to another part of the casino ? For the hour and a half I am enjoying this cigar? Losing money ? Either you allow smoking or you don't . That ruling must have come from the same genius that invented non smoking sections in Restaurants ! Bob

 

I saw signs banning cigars at the craps tables last October. Pretty interesting concept - cigars are banned, but cigarettes (which are much more harmful) are allowed. A dealer told me it was because the new President of PH was a woman, and she hates cigars.

If smokers in general are catered to because they are valuable casino patrons, and non-smokers are not catered to with n/s sections, the smokers obviously are outnumbered. So, why are there a huge percentage of their hotel rooms that are non smoking? Do the smokers not sleep? I must be missing something. This isn't on topic specifically, but it sort of pertains.
