Vegas is off my radar for the foreseeable future. No longer interested in what is open or closed.

What happens if you just don’t show up for a flight?? Serious question.

I officially changed my vote to canceling. Apr 24 is too soon and I trust the experts!

Yeah, I voted under the impression things wouldn't escalate much further than they had. Boy, how wrong can you be.

My old man is more laid back about things than me, so I've spent most of the day steering mum around to Xmas in Vegas, even if we're fine to fly by June.

Gets the bonus of not having to cook Xmas dinner, too. She doesn't do much at the pool, so not like it'll matter what temperature it is, when she is welded to Dancing Drums and Dragon Link :p

Hey, I just made an update to the Information Sticky - https://www.vegasmessageboard.com/forums/index.php?posts/2011945/

In there, I said that there is more confirmation that Gov. Sisolak is going to order all the casinos in the state to close for 30 days.

Nevada Independent seems confident this is a true story.
    https://thenevadaindependent.com/article/sisolak-to-order-statewide-closure-of-non-essential-businesses-including-casinos-following-in-footsteps-of-other-states

The briefing is now at 6pm Pacific Time.

Also, Stations Casino just posted this: https://www.stationcasinosinfo.com/
    • Governor to announce statewide closing of casinos for 30 days.
    • All Gaming to stop at midnight tonight.
    • All non-Gaming operations to close tomorrow (Wed, Mar 18) at noon.
    • All hotel operations to stop at 6pm, Thu March 19.
So it sounds like it is time for Vegas to take a little break for 30 days. I know none of us are happy about this, but it's probably a good decision. I'm hopeful that 30 days from now all things reopen and life gets back to normal, and we can all laugh about the overreaction. But meanwhile, if it's not overreaction, it's the right decision.

    Sorry. :(

Considering Stations is paying their employees till April 30th tells me things ain’t returning to normal till at least June. Spirit airlines has dirt cheap prices to Vegas till mid June. I’ll be shocked if they don’t ground all domestic air travel by next week.

    These are just my opinions.

Check your ESTA's people. I have heard that some are being revoked. I checked ours and they are still valid but have read that some have gone from active to pending in the last few hours.

I guess they are making sure that the British addition to the ban is adhered to.

Lots of changes since my first take on whether or not I'd keep my plans for 5/2-5/8. 30 day closure just announced. Even in the best case scenario, this timeframe looks dicey. I'll monitor for a few more weeks before making the final call. If not, I'd come out as soon as possible, either in June or July hopefully.

I officially canceled my hotel room for my April trip. At this point I'm hopeful for a 4th of July weekend. I'm fortunate enough that I have three day weekends and it's only a 2 hour flight so I can pretty much go whenever. All of our bankrolls will just be bigger for our next trip.

Nevada Gov. Steve Sisolak announced Tuesday (3/17) a statewide closure of all casinos, restaurants, bars and other nonessential businesses for 30 days in the state’s latest response to the COVID-19 outbreak.

It is amazing how fast things are changing. Obviously our plans are 100% canceled. Deep sixed our hotel reservations tonight and canceled for the 1 year credit on the flight. I am leaving my countdown in place as I don't have the heart to remove it. Vegas isn't going anywhere and will be there in some fashion when this is all in the rearview; of course none of us know what that might look like. VMB has been a wonderful corner of the Internet to go through this via. The mods are continuing to do an amazing job.

I'll root for you, EastCoast! :)

I had to not do a spring trip this year because I can't fly for 60 days after surgery. That puts me right around May 1st and May is lovely in Vegas.... hmmm

I made tentative plans for a meet up in July, but I've been sort of daydreaming about a quick May trip, just for me. I haven't booked anything, but I'm a late booker. That hasn't stopped the daydreaming.

Hope for the best, brace yourself for the worst. We will get through it.

Okay, I just got back. I decided to drive to the airport and check with Hawaiian air about cancelling. Other than calling Hawaiian (busy phone lines) the airport was the only other place to get help from HA.

As I suspected, because I already rebooked my reservation they were unable to cancel/change my reservation. Only one change accepted per reservation. After that I will be charged change fees, basically more than the cost of my ticket.

With everything closed in Vegas no sense in going so guess I lose my $$.

The clerk did say to try to use this reservation when I rebook, saying that because of the closures maybe they (might feel sorry for me) might allow me to use this ticket for my next flight in a few months.

My friend said maybe I should check with my cc company and see about cancelling the charge, using the coronavirus as the excuse of the cancel. Now that the "official" word from the Nev governor came out I can use that as an excuse for the cancellation.

I thought about going to the airport tonight but no sense as everyone else may be trying to cancel their reservation so it was best to go early to see about my booking.

Too bad, Hawaii is being swamped by a storm most of this week and our Gov just announced requests to close businesses at night so guess I also have to hunker down at home for the rest of the month.

I guess I should be happy that I wasn't up there when the closure order came out. Would have been hard to find my way back to Honolulu.

Sorry you've lost your flight costs, but hopefully you can recover them down the line.

On the upside, at least this happened before you flew, and you're much safer at home, than in a shutdown city.

Fingers crossed this passes as smoothly as it feasibly can, with all here and relatives well when we get to the other side.
