The LCC--Canine Comfort Dogs are in Las Vegas trying to help provide some solace and emotional support.

This post is 20+ long. It is possible this has been said but I have a golf bag with a cover. I have 5 rifles inserted and covered. I approach the elevator and say "what a day. But there is always tomorrow" and head up the elevator. Tomorrow, rinse and repeat. Hays suspicious about that?
If you want to cause mayhem the mlb playoffs are just beginning, nfl each weekend, World Series/Super Bowl, you can target the gathering areas pre-security just like the airport pre-screening. We gotta live a normal life but cannot control those on the edge. It's just the way it is. Pray for those recovering and the families of the fallen.

Sonya, I was in MB casino Sunday night when it happened and I wish I had looked at VMB once I got to the room. You took better care to post information than what I saw on TV. I find that highly commendable and again you have earned my respect. Could not get a hold of anyone on phone. Couldn't leave until about 10:30 am when they posted a notice on the TV saying security was allowing egress.

I agree! Yesterday, Rock n Roll Marathon put a post on Facebook about safety and security at this year's race. They have also done this in past years as other tragedies have happened in the months before the race. Many responses yesterday were to not have the pre-race concert there, as they have been in the last few years. The Goo Goo Dolls are scheduled to perform, but there is no way they could even consider it being there, if they even re-open that venue.

Thanks for your kind words. I'm surprised they weren't better at communicating to their guests. Were you in your room when the shooting happened? Or in the casino? When did you try to call? That's terrible if they didn't have people answering the phones. I can imagine it was chaos for the, but with 3000+ rooms, you would think they would be more responsive to guests who had no idea what was happening.

We had a fire alarm last year at Paris and less than a minute later, they were on the hotel room intercom system to say it was an accident and there was no fire. I was still putting my shoes on to head down the stairs.

    Glad you're safe though!

The article says it may be the future for LV, but I sure hope not. One of the things I like most about The Strip is wandering from hotel to hotel, cutting through one to access another, etc. A 30 minute delay for people to get their bags checked and metal-detector wanded would be a huge turn off for me. I'm a wanderer and this would prevent me from wandering.

I really hope that is not the case. The point of Vegas is to be able to walk up and down the strip and go into the endless casinos quickly. To add a TSA style check-in at the entrances would only add a congestion of people waiting to get in the property.. People outside waiting in line... Sounds like another disaster waiting to happen. Sure they will say it is for our safety... But to be subject to search TSA style at Las Vegas hotels is going to be time consuming and nobody has time to be getting searched while on vacation... I know if thats the case I would lessen my trips to Vegas to maybe once every other year.

30 minutes over and over again, or a 1 in a trillion chance at death might be a better way to phrase that.

And by the way, we can not protect this long line of people from some idiot just driving or walking up and causing chaos to the people in line.

I try to avoid Wynn and Venetian because of personal beliefs, only going there for the rare show I might want to see. This would keep me out altogether. I cannot imagine it gaining much traction. Wynn has a lot more money to spend on security than most hotels. Lol, unless of course they add a "Security Fee" to the resort fee and parking fee.

I was on the casino floor when it happened I will post more about it later. I was in Delano and never heard an intercom. I was surprised. Went to my room when it happened and chaos occurred in the casino. I called down in the morning 8:30-93:00 am no answer. They had people giving out coffee and water but nothing was open at MB that morning.

I doubt it. Just another knee-jerk reaction. Probably the legal department trying to get ahead of lawsuits.

It's just my opinion but I highly suspect that that venue will eventually be a memorial for the victims. I have no idea who owns that property but I can't imagine it being anything other than a memorial park or something along those lines.

Oh well, I don't visit the Wynn very much so no sweat for me.

As others have said, I think this is just a knee jerk reaction. Once they realize how much a hassle it is I think they will stop the searches, probably in a few weeks or a month from now.

you cannot live in fear of everything, you have to move on with life at some point, IMHO.

Lordy! Don't give them any ideas! :wink2:

I'll keep my eyes out for that. It's been fascinating to me to read the different stories of people who were in different places when it happened. I had friends at Nine Fine Irishmen who locked down in the bar.

I imagine it was chaos for the employees all night and into the next morning, but someone should have answered the phone. I'm disappointed to hear about your experience there.

I haven't yet posted on this threat but am as shocked & saddened as everyone by the events of Sunday night.
While I can see the rational behind increased screening of hotel guests, I'd feel just as unsafe, if not more, of standing in a queue of hundreds of people for 30 odd minutes waiting to get into a hotel.
Unfortunately, in this day & age, we are at risk of these type of lone wolf attacks anytime/anywhere. Law enforcement & security can never plan for every possible scenario.
My wife & I will be travelling to Vegas from Australia & while I'm sure the mood will be somewhat different we both can't wait.
