. . . I just received an email from MaBay saying they have upgraded me to a suite at Delano. The email goes on about all the attributes of staying at Delano. To tell you the truth, I am not excited about this upgrade and would like to just stay where I am comfortable - on the MaBay side.

When THEHotel became Delano, I checked out the pics and reviews. I thought the rooms looked so sterile and hospital-like.

Just curious to read from anyone who has stayed on the Delano side. As far as the upgrade, am I looking a gift horse in the mouth?

Thanks!

We always stay at Delano. Rooms are one of the best on the strip for the price. The extra half bathroom is a must if you and your partner are on different gaming clocks. Coffee spot right outside elevators. Dellas kitchen is good. Service is excellent at Delano. Short walk to casino, it lets out by the sports book and right below escalators to shoppes at MB. If it's free I would take it in a second. No brainer IMO.

What type of room did you book at MB? I've stayed in Delano about 5 times and just recently stayed in some kind of suite at MB. If you have never stayed at Delano and want a change try it out. It's not bad but I really don't use the "living room" or the second bathroom at all. I enjoyed the suite I had at MB and preferred the large open floor plan over the 2 room floor plan at Delano. Is your room comped? The comp rate for a Delano room is higher than the great room suite rate at MB so you may be burning comp dollars you don't need to at Delano if it makes no difference to you. I would say if you want a change try it out if you prefer MB, switch back.

I'd go Delano. You're getting upgraded from (presumably) a standard room to a suite, and it's not like you're a mile away, you're only a 30 second walk from everything MB has to offer. I stayed at THEhotel back in the day and it was one of the nicest places I've stayed on the strip. Yeah, it's pretty "white" now after the re-do, but from what I see and hear it's elegant and classy.

Hi bedaniels,

Thanks for the info. I booked an offer for Resort King comped at MaBay and I certainly do not want to burn any of my comps/dollars.

I am still mulling this over, but I will probably end up turning down the Delano upgrade.

It's a good point about the comp value of the room.

If you're curious enough, call VIP Services and ask. If they say you won't get dinged for additional comp value and they sound solid about it, I'd give it a try. The old decor was drab and the new decor is a little minimalist for me, but they're definitely nice rooms.

As to burning comp dollars,,, they are not express comps, only comps that you might need for THIS trip back end

I would keep the suite myself

Wondering if you know if they leave the kiosks open after the days of the actual event.
Could be wrong but I think I recall Aria having the kiosk open near the end of December a couple years ago.

A good thing to remember. I don't know about mLife, but CET uses the full comp value of the upgraded room when calculating backend comps.

I would go with the Delano. It's Vegas. Try something new every time!
