I will play almost anything for a minute but I will leave a silent slot pretty sooner unless it hits big early on. When one thing is off, you start to feel other aspects of gameplay may be screwy too. But even worse are the slots where the color isn't right. I won't even touch those.

I definitely prefer the sound on- I can't imagine Rocking Olives or the Hangover Slots or.... ah, the list goes on I love the lights and sounds. I do, however, like a volume control. Sometimes it's too loud.

In the past if a machine didn't have sound I would usually just get up and move to another machine. Nowadays I will usually be an MP3 player while I play, so sound or not doesn't matter.

Interesting thread. I LOVE loud machines and I will definitely get up and move if the one I'm at doesn't have any sound (unless it's hitting like crazy, then I might just tough it out a bit). My husband thinks I'm crazy.

I guess I am one of the few that prefer the silent machines or if it has a volume control I put it as low as possible. I'm not a big fan of the attention you get when all the bells and noise goes off for a 30 cent win, although I do like the music when a hand pay pops up in the screen.

I know a couple people that swear that the loud machines are the ones that hit bonuses more frequently and payout more..... I think they are out of their minds....lol

I'd rather have the sound, but if it's too loud I feel like I'm going to bother people or something. Last December I was with my sister and she asked a person who was playing on a VERY loud machine nearby if they wouldn't mind turning it down a bit. They answered, quite rudely, that no, they would not turn it down and they can have it at any volume they damn well pleased. Well, this is true, but I think if asked I would turn it down, as long as I could still hear it.

I love the sound of slot machines.....however, if i hear just one more time "Wheel........of........Fortune", they'll have to commit me to the loony bin. Doesn't matter if the closest player is in another time zone.........you will still hear "Wheel.......of.......Fortune".

I had played one at Bellagio a few weeks ago and it weirded me out, to say the least.
especially considering the casino is pretty quiet as it is, and it was a Tuesday morning at 7 a.m.

I have a few specific $5 machines that I must play and you guys know sometimes those are scarce so I find three that I am rotating between and the one that is hitting is a "MUTE MACHINE"! Drove me crazy for about a half hour until it hit a $1600 hand pay. After that I asked the girl if she could look at the sound issue while in there and she did something and got her going. It quit hitting and took a couple hundy back so I caught her walking by and said "Please Ma'am, Could you open this thing up and shut the sound up again!!!!!" She looked at me like I had lost my mind and sort of giggled and walked off BUT I WAS SERIOUS! :confused2:

Yeah that can be annoying unless you are playing one. Gotta have sound on a WOF!
When I get a Spin I have to wait and count 4 beeps before I push the Spin Button.
Actually the beeps are in pairs so it's 8 beeps total. Sometimes I'm counting and I
can tell the person next to me thinks I don't know what I'm doing. What they don't
know is to me that beeping sound is the Money Truck backing up haha!

No. Especially video poker. Theirs not a better sound in the world when those 4OAK credits role up and everyone's looking because your machine is loud as hell.

I rarely play slots. When I do I'll buy in for $20 and try to find a game with all the bells and whistles.

I have even won on my first few spins and still cash out if there is no sound.
Even if wining, no sound just takes the fun out of it.

I doubt they are aware it has no sound. They probably look at the revenue sheet to determine if the machine gets any play. As long as there is still some play at the machine, it must not be broke to them.

I actually loudly proclaimed, "NO!" right after I read this thread title.

Half of the reason I plop down on a machine is to see and hear all the bells and whistles. Some of the machines that practically throw glitter at your face are just heinously Vegas, but that's why I can't help but love them. I could be winning a nickel off a dollar bet, but the sounds that proclaim, "You're a winner! (Sort of)" keep me in a good mood. I really don't think I can sit at a silent machine.

My wife and I love to play the "Maid of Money" game just to hear the loud "Whoo Hoo" any time the games hits a decent pay. Last time we were laughing so hard at it we almost fell out of our chairs.

Does anyone remember the old "I Dream of Jeannie" slots? And whenever you rubbed her belly she would giggle?

Cash Wizard is sort of like that. You can tickle his belly and he'll giggle like the Pillsbury Doughboy.
