Was staying at Bally's/flamingo over the weekend. Saw a lot of royals getting hit.

Had the best luck at the Flamingo on the Progressive quarter VP machines along the wall by the Poker Room. The progressive never got above $1050 during 3 days. I think there is 8 to 10 machines on the bank and it rarely ever is full.

On saturday my Mom & I were playing along with another couple.

I drew Aces w/Kicker on DDB for $500. About 1 minute later, a lady 2 to my right hit a royal for $1050 (She held 4 cards and drew the 4th).

I played a little while longer than moved to a different set of machines.

About 10 minutes later my Mom hit her first Royal on that same bank for $1005 (She held 4 cards and drew the 4th). She was staying at the Riviera and went to check in to her room. After checking in she went to the bar to have a drink (and play a little VP) where she hit another Royal for $1050 (Drew 2 cards this time).

On Sunday I was playing on the same progressive bank at the Flamingo, royal was at $1010 meaning someone had hit it recently. Was dealt the 10-J-Q-K of diamonds, hit draw and the A of diamonds popped up! Sweet.

A little while later 2 guys sat down and we started talking. One of them said they had hit a royal on the same machine I did the night before, and that they saw one other being hit on that same bank as well, so over Saturday & Sunday 5 royals were hit on that bank.

I have had several over the years in Vegas and on cruise ships. However, this past weekend, we stayed at Boulder Station with a large group of friends to bet the Breeders Cup races. They have several 100% payout machines there that I like to play.

The ones I usually play are at the front of the casino but on Saturday morning I went to get my wife a coffee. While walking through the back of the casino, I spotted another bank of machines with 100% payout and put in $20 before I got her coffee. After a few hands it dealt me four to the royal and I drew the fifth. The machine locked up and the credits went up to $2,000. I checked further and realized that the machine was playing 10 quarters instead of five.

I did that once but it was at the end of the night and I was sh*t faced drunk and didn't realize I was playing .50 VP. A nice surprise.

If I didn't miss seeing it, let me be the first one to list the main bar at Ellis Island on Halloween a year ago. Ms. Gecko hit 3 to the royal and got her first and only - a sequential no less! We went back the day before Halloween last week and won a couple bucks, but no royal. I guess a day early doesn't work.

Actually, my first two royals were within 24 hours of each other and both were in the first five hands,

We stopped at LA Bayou so my daughter could get her drink on. I stayed out with my grandson. A few minutes later she came out so I went in to play enough to get a drink. Hit the royal as the drink came.

Second at IP was late at night after getting killed in Mississippi Stud at Harrahs. Stopped for a drink before going up to the room. Hit the royal before the first drink, followed by 4 kings next hand

Thursday I hit a $2 royal for $8,000 (holding 3 cards), then yesterday hit a $5 royal for $20,000 (again holding 3 cards). Both on the same machine and both in clubs!

After going three years since my last Royal Flush, I hit two of them at The Orleans within 20 minutes of each other on different machines at the same bar in July of 2013!

I had 29 royals last year, 15 so far this year. I think I have about 27 total before last year. My first was at MGM playing .25 ddb. My most exciting were (1) a dealt royal playing .50 triple play for 6k (Harrahs New Orleans)and (2) a royal on STP 3-play 5x at Beau Rivage for 10k. First bill slipped in first 5 minutes inside the casino.

    Vegas royals.

    MGM
    4 queens - 4
    MSS - 4
    CP - 2
    Orleans - 1
    Harrahs - 2
    M Resort - 1
    PHo - 1 (8k!)

Probably more, but my memory is slipping.

Hit my second royal tonight at a local casino. That makes two in less than a month. Might have to change my avatar.

1 at dollars at the El Cortez (near the roulette). Since 80 percent of my VP playing is on bartops it's odd that my only 3 handpays playing VP come from the uprights in the middle of the casino.

I'm a rookie to the VP world...all machines are NOT the same, correct? What am I looking for when I take a seat? Just max payout?

The best "paytable" among the games available. Unfortunately this isn't super easy to figure out without a smartphone handy (and don't use one while actively playing as it's illegal).

But for most games without wild cards, you generally only have to look at the game's name and its full house and flush payout. The higher of the sum of these two numbers are, the better the payout is in that particular game.

If you are planning to play at a CET bar, I can answer this more easily since every CET bar I have found so far have the same paytables:

7 (full house)/5 (flush) Triple Bonus Plus (97.67% with max coins) > 6/5 Bonus (96.87% max) > 8/5 Double Double Bonus (96.79% max)

As you can see above, however, the appropriate sum of the full house and flush varies among the game variant. Also these are the full house/flush paybacks when playing one coin. However, to maximize percentage return, you need to bet five coins for a bonus on the Royal flush.

I summarized the sums you want to be looking for various games in a older, buried post within BeeeJay's and crew legendary April trip, hope this helps:

FINALLY got my first royal tonight at MotorCity in Detroit. I feel like this vindicates my gambling addiction... I'm a big boy now.
