From the WSJ. ND AD concerned there might not be a CFB season:

    https://www.wsj.com/articles/notre-dame-and-everyone-else-is-feeling-bleak-about-college-football-11594814400?mod=e2fb&fbclid=IwAR2exmqKRkR7lc6R60SEdAxB9xjaBqWhEnBONkF36BFL-erMnnsWh9QdbJo

Great head-scratcher line about the whole feel good/what's the point? non-conference thing:

"Meanwhile, moves by the Big Ten and Pacific-12 Conferences to cancel nonconference schedules have raised questions that are difficult to answer—like how Colorado can play Pac-12 rival Washington, which is over 1,300 miles away, but not Colorado State an hour’s drive north."

Something tells me stop you're not going to play college football this year... I just heard and don't know if it's true that the Rose Parade has been canceled

As sad as I am to say it, CFB isn't happening this year. Already canceled my plans for Marshall @ ECU. We were going to fly to NC for the first time. This game would mark the 50th anniversary of the Marshall plane crash that killed 75 people. I wanted to see the plaque on the ECU visitors side that was dedicated to Marshall. I've been waiting for this game for 5 years.

I've rooted on sports to return for a while now hoping we could get baseball or maybe NBA—I'd even settle for some hockey, which I rarely watch in the best of times—as a sign that we can have some normalcy. But, now, no, it's time for Americans to grow up and realize these things are trivial and that everything else is so much more important.

And, as you see below, I'm still slated for Vegas in about two weeks but, after I read in one of Sonya's posts about a 39-year old educator who was infected by the virus, my trip is in peril. He said, "It turned my life upside down in an instant, and I don’t want anybody else to have to go through sitting in a hospital room by themselves contemplating if they’re going to live or die for a night out at the casino."

at this point the best we can do is hunker down , lock it down and pray for a vaccine or we all come together and stop the spread. and reboot everything in 2021 . unless we get a miracle vaccine.

And televised boxing at the MGM. :D

I've had doubts about the upcoming college football season, for a while. I guess we will just have to wait and see what happens.

Saratoga has now banned incoming jockeys and will stick to only those who are part of the established colony. Seems the right move. Flavien Prat recently tested positive.

I have been a sports fan since the day at the age of 8 that I learned to read baseball box scores.

I couldn’t even begin to count the number of high school, college and pro games in all sports that I have attended in person and thousands more on television.

I don’t know about the gimmicked up seasons and playoffs the 4 major sports have dreamed up. I know I’ll watch, but....

I never thought I would miss the knuckleheads who pound on the glass at hockey games.

Yes.....and this afternoon DelMar cancelled racing until July 24 at the earliest and will install similar jockey restrictions.
These guys going from track to track one day and back the next needed to stop for the time being.

*update. a total of 15 jockeys tested positive.

The news release yesterday that the first testing results of the one vaccine showed antibodies being produced had me actually sitting at my desk crying - thinking maybe there is hope for this.
Tonight we are watching the All Star Nascar race from Bristol - max of 30,000 seats - under 20% occupancy. It actually looks like a lot less than that.
