I believe The Mai Tai Bar is where I had a shrimp cocktail and drink at sunrise after being up all night. While that's not anything unusual for many in Vegas, it's totally out of character for this "morning person." I remember dragging my poor aching body to the bar just so I could one day write that first sentence! It won't happen again! :)

The bartender Don was the best. They had a 2 for 1 Mai Tai special for a few months. One night very late one of the guys travelling with us called him out on his weak Mai Tais. This was after he'd had four of them. Being a professional and defending his reputation, Don made a Mai Tai for him that you could see through, had to have 6 shots of rum in it and said "good night" as he served it. Needless to say he was calling Ralph and Earl on the china telephone a couple hours later. Blamed it on a bad burrito.

Well I have to say I am not too impressed. I did get a quiet room (no view, which I agreed to), and a frig, but it's fairly spartan. The elevators are very slow (and you need to swipe your room key.....had to have a millenial show me:(). I will search for the "secret" bank this morning. The strip is packed....oh so many little ones! I ordered room service and was delivered a cold turkey sandwich......lesson learned there!

Lol, fun to read all the stuff relating to the imperial palace. What I remember was riding up the escalator to that Hash house a go go I believe it was called. Boy! Was I hammered! Lol

As much as any of the old classic Vegas casinos, I miss IP the most. It held on for so long. Walking in let you feel what Vegas was like in the 80s. It wasn't too big, amazing location and nothing had changed for a long time. It never felt old and empty like Sahara, the Riviera or even the Stardust (I really miss the Stardust facade though)

My first trip to Vegas I stayed at Imperial palace due to the location and cheap pricing. It was a solo trip as I wanted to explore at leisure for my first time in Vegas.

I remember the first night, playing ultimate Texas hold ‘em! Then every so often a dealertainer would get up on that small stage and do a performance. I remember a prince dealertainer that kept character even while dealing! Drank a bunch of free rum and coke, got plastered and fell asleep. Woke up naked in my bed to the sound of someone coming in my room and was so hungover I couldn’t speak. A housekeeper walked in, saw me and said “I’m sorry sir!” And I jus laid back in bed and slept more hahaha!

but yeah the kimonos on the CWs looked good, even on the older gals haha.

Stayed there once when it was the IP. Worst room location I've ever had in Vegas. It was just like the scene in Vegas Vacation when the Griswalds checked into the Mirage. Go to the very back of the casino, take the escalator up one floor, turn right, then take the elevator down a floor, grab another elevator to the ground floor, then walk down a long hallway to get to your room. The room was normal, the view, not so much. A great view of the loading dock with trucks coming and going all night not 10 feet away.

Used to love the I.P., I remember having to walk out the front then down that crummy alley/walk way to get over to osheas for beer pong and casino war lol.

Amazing how much the strip has changed since then and it really wasnt even that long ago, r.i.p IP and Vegas...

Die! I loved the soup and Prime Rib there. Even though it was prob the same stuff as flamingo, IP always over did it with seasoning on the PR and made it taste better. And their steak house was good too.

I went to Vegas in 2014 after not having visited since 2004. I couldn't believe the changes including how the Linq was compared to that POS Imperial Palace.

    Edit:
I remember there was a murder in IP in like 2002-4. Forgot exact year. A guy was murdered in the staircase.

    Edit:
    I think this was it:
