Picked up a 4 pack recently, the “best use” date at the bottom of the can was February ‘22. I didn’t discover this until after I cracked open the first one. I guess if it was offensive, I might have gone back to the beer store, but I really liked it. Very crisp and lightly hopped.

I buy and drink a decent amount of Helles beer in Europe but avoid them here as I’m afraid they won’t travel well. How are they? I might need Altair a shot on some.

It was your post that made me look for it at my local beer store. I was on the hunt for Oktoberfest beers and spotted this one in the Import section. I’m a big fan of their Hefeweissbier; perfect in the summer. I don’t have a frame of reference as I haven’t had many Helles, but I liked this one. To me, it’s kind of a light bodied beer with flavor and mouth feel, not overly carbonated.

I occasionally listened to a radio program out of NYC called Food Talk, the host often said “when I’m not near the pizza I love, I love the pizza I’m near.” A Helles exported to the US might not be exactly like that which you would have in Europe, but you’d probably like it.

Used to be a big craft beer fan until I lost most of my taste and smell. Alas, ipa’s now taste of fat bum.
Autumn in New England means ….. Apple cider donuts (nothing better than fresh). Long story short …. Not bad

This rye is pretty good. Also my go to Manhattan ingredients, although this combination isn't my favorite.

I also have the Sagamore rye that is finished in tequila barrels. Both are worth picking up

We're having a dry September but we had a matinee at the performing arts center (Frozen, and I was dreading it but it was really good!!)

So I had an AMB apple cider on draft at Mellow Mushroom before the show. imgly_8922780033667607252.jpg

I very recently found this on sale at Costco. Hockstadter's Slow and Low Rock and Rye. Makes a solid Old-Fashioned right out of the bottle (especially after a long days work where I don't want to mix my own). If it seems a bit too sweet just cut the sweetness with more rye or bourbon.

Also found a very good deal on Crown Royal XO which makes for a terrific sipper.

Every few weeks the PA State Store system releases a few special whiskies. This one just became available for an online purchase @ $180.

Beer is perishable, so not gonna stock up too much ;-) When supply is limited, we just switch to other drinks :drunk: (though the hops shortage from ~15 years ago is what turned my husband into a hops grower ;-) Thankfully the stock came back because hops do NOT grow well here!)

Ok I’m not meaning to be hijacking but plan to contribute at some point. I  me some IPA. Especially when on a tab previously overpaid in advance.
Princess cruises is offering brews which are not so much BUT the wife said she would educate me on the sins of the “brown” stuff. I’ve had the brown stuff with Coke or other mixers so I’m not a total nubile project. ;)
This will be our first educational experience since the last one (?) which was quite successful in the birth of our only child o_O 30+ years ago.
She is a whiskey / bourbon drinking child of the <€’’s. No ice.
    Unless Buffalo trace….then a dab….
I told her I was game to try “sippin” REAL man drinks but needed guidance. The smirk she shared led me to the board for direction.
We’ve viewed a couple of YouTube videos on what is what and what is not but I only smell ethanol; no bouquets or oak or cedar or your grandmothers apple pie just “YIKES”.
She has a boatload of cupboard bottles and I’ll admit I have not sniffed them all but from the menus below, what is a good starter and what is the ethanol group….
I need you to think back,, not what you’ve evolved into as a knowledgeable sipper :cowboy:
but what was the :noangel: gateway taste that allowed you to progress through  the hallowed halls (those are the phrases we use here to avoid ‘the edge of ‘alky -ism’ :( )
Just trying to please without the Zantac Rx…

i left the Princess dot com at the bottom to purposely show the origin of the menu. Thanks for any help/guidance. :) (be gentle).
