They still have surge pricing but it’s not passed on to dries anymore. Both Uber and Lyft are keeping this for themselves. I know many drivers in Las Vegas that have no plans to return to the job as lack of surge and lack of tips don’t allow the job to be worthwhile anymore.

Riders are charged surge pricing but drivers no longer get it. Between Uber / Lyft cutting driver compensation and 50-75% of passengers not tipping at all, there will be a lack of drivers for the foreseeable future. It’s not worth it for $12-15 per hour (even lower after expenses)

not giving drivers an increase on the surge pricing is absurd. i can't blame them for staying away.

So I cannot find the legal citation for this, but according to this article, there actually was a suspension on surge pricing in Nevada:

    https://www.fox5vegas.com/coronavirus/as-rideshare-demand-returns-some-las-vegas-drivers-won-t-come-back/article_04c11fac-8c63-11eb-a763-e303c01a63a1.html?block_id=994400

If true, I stand corrected, and in the words of the great President Bartlet, I will be wrong, and stand here in my wrongness and be wrong, and will get used to it.

Separately, this article tracks what's been reported around these parts. I honestly do not really ever take Uber/Lyft unless I'm going off Strip or am getting one for someone else, but wait times have long been an issue for me at Aria, and I imagine current conditions are not helping.

I was there March 11-18, Airport late on the 11th (Thursday) no ubers or lyfts, over an hour for cab. We had a difficult time getting rideshares during our trip, often over a 15 min wait no matter where we were or time of day. Cabs were fine although I wouldn’t rely on one late downtown. Now that capacity has increased I’m not sure if the situation will be better or worse

If uber wait times are as advertised I may be taking a 60 seat stretch vehicle myself. :)

so, from yesterday, my current experience...plane left late and got there later than expected. got to baggage claim around 3:35pm...checked lyft and had a 23minute wait time. I didnt want to select it then as no bags were coming out. my luck the guy would arrive and my bags still wouldnt be ready. so I waited for my bag. in that short time the wait time dropped to 13 minutes and price went up $2. then no estimated time because no cars available, the app did say limited availability. so I looked at the next car upgrade, Lyft XL, had plenty cars for that and only a 7 minute wait. as soon as my bag came out, I selected the Lyft XL, found me a driver and that 7 minute estimate instantly turned to 17 minute wait. so I walked over to rideshare and waited as the driver was by the High Roller and had another stop...interesting that my drived was the "Juggling Taxi" who apparantly appearded on americas got talent, lol

Has anyone had success with scheduling Lyft in advance for a pickup at the airport? A few days ago, I scheduled a Lyft XL for 7:30pm this Saturday night. Does scheduling them in advance guarantee they will be on-time?

Planning on being there Tuesday, after my experience a couple weeks ago waiting for Ubers I have booked a car through Presidential. Their town car rates seem pretty reasonable compared to a premium Uber ride.

Arrived yesterday (Friday) about 2:35 pm. Attempted to get a lay of the land but said no vehicles available on uber while we taxied. Might have been the location. Got my bags and hit the line up searching on the moving walkway as to what was what. Searching for driver got scary as it kept searching and searching and searching and then a driver picked up and would arrive in 6 minutes or so. Got in the car about 10 minutes of searching to arrival. Went downtown with a lot more traffic than normally experienced. She was unfazed. I was relieved as cx was my back up.

I arrived today around 12:15 and got canceled twice after a long wait with Lyft. People who I met back in Portland, Oregon on the airport shuttle got their Uber canceled but then scored a Lyft and those wonderful folk let me ride with them downtown!

I have friends that do Lyft and Uber , gas prices and their pay is a big problem, Plus with that new stimulus they are getting federal unemployment, and state unemployment , without having to pay higher fuel prices , they are staying home , trying to get better jobs.:peace:

Glad it worked out. From everything that’s been on VMB it seems like Uner/Lyft is a total clusterf**k out there right now.

Headed to airport this morning - zero cabs at flamingo. zero Uber/Lyft available. Giant cluster of people waiting at rideshare. Eventually flagged down a cab. Normal staging area was blocked off so it was a free for all.
