Most of us don't have a problem with newbies. It is fun actually because many newbies are interested in the game and have a lot of questions on the game and learning how to play. Don't feel embarrassed about not knowing how to play, you can always mention that you are new and willing to learn. We all started out as newbies, some of us were lucky to have mentors to learn from (or maybe from forums like these) but you gotta learn from somebody, the pit crew are sometimes helpful also (make sure you tip them or put down a bet for the dealers for their help).

As I mentioned in my initial post it is kind of funny watching people who think they know how to play the game
make unconventional bets (or bets that would cause many of us to scratch our heads). Hopefully nobody will chastise you when you make a questionable bet but it is always best to ask proper strategy and amount of bets to maximize your odds.

I prefer newbies at the table as it usually slows the rate at which I am losing money. :evillaugh

Before the Super Bowl, I saw a dealer at Monte Carlo wearing an Aaron Hernandez jersey. :faint:

Bad gamblers are good for Smart gamblers. A sufficient quantity of poor players increasing the house edge takes pressure off the house to tighten the rules and trim back comps.

I have a sneaking suspicion that 6:5 BJ is the product of basic strategy being ever more accessible to the general public. I would suspect that the night the Flamingo opened in the 40s, the BJ play was horribly uninformed and the house edge "in actual practice" greatly exceeded the edge their rules yielded with perfect play.

I can't prove it but that's my theory.
