Getting the rental car in 3 hours and then it is off to death valley. If there are no more posts, it means a mountain lion ate me[/QUOTE]

That's odd, as I figured you'd be good with wild cats.

Lunch at Javiers is my favorite. I absolutely love their chips and salsa and sitting at the round bar.

Sounds like you're having a great trip thus far. Keep working the good mojo!

Eating at Javier's now, but had a wild gambling swing over the past hour. Played blackjack, lost 11k. Got it back. Then proceeded to lose 20k! Argh

Took a break from blackjack and went back to baccarat. Took out a 40k marker and started to play. I kept getting up a few thousand and then lose a large bet. Finally, I reach the point where I wager 8k on the bank. There goes my play small plan for this trip. Dealer opens the player side and its a three and a ten. I open the bank ...... Natural nine!!! End up winning 14k at the table. Then I head back to blackjack and play with one of the strangest players I have ever seen.

He warned me when I sat down that he does unusual stuff. I said no problem. He made a few questionable calls, but not really that many. What made him strange us that he would jump in and out playing multie hands and take forever to make a decision. He would sit there and stare at a d 18 or 19 for a minute or two before declaring that he would stand. So random.

Food is here so time to eat. Will post dv pics later

Yes, still up. And after Javiers, I did a quick hit and run on my way back to the room and I am now right back where I was before I lost the 20k

Death Valley was fantastic. I know people are reading the TR for vegas stuff, not really my tour of national parks. So I won't post the tons of pics I took. But I will just say that it is definitely worth the two hour drive. Very cool.

Still have the rental car and I'm thinking about driving to the pinball HOF. Anywho, I am out for the night!

Post the pics! I used to try to do at least one day out of the city on trips such as this! I want to get back into that.

Its no trouble. Just thought it might not be of much interest. Here are a few:

Badwater basin. Look real close and you can see in the rocks the sign that indicates sea level

Nice pics. How long you spend there? Was it over 120F?

    Good luck tonight!

Cool pics! Did the damp sponge you brought along on the hike for safety work out?

Nice trip report, thanks for the gambling details. Do you use Martingale or positive progression?

lol, you know, maybe its the southern boy in me, but it really wasn't that bad. The only times I noticed the heat was at Badwater Basin and during one hike where I turned a corner and got blasted by some hot winds streaming through a canyon. It was hot, but felt no worse than the heat index on a hot summer day in Tennessee. Although I was a bit annoyed by one idito family that was walking around cracking eggs everywhere trying to demonstrate that it was hot enough to fry an egg on the ground. Morons

Mostly I use a negative progression, although nothing close to a martingale. I have to lose fifteen or more units before I start increasing my base bet.

Although the big baccarat run I described from yesterday was a rare example of my using positive progression. I started by betting 1k and then doubled each time until I finally hit on the 8k bet. I lost the 8k bet twice before I finally hit it.

Just over 120. They have this thermometer just outside the furnace creek station

Along with this friendly reminder that I ignored

Truly, badwater basin was the only spot that felt really hot, probably closer to 130 would be my guess
