Wanted to thank Hunter for a great trip to PH!! Everyone that we encountered were friendly and courteous. Great trip and I would recommend Hunter to anyone coming to Vegas who gambles!
We aren't high rollers but did our share this past week.
Forgot, I left two pair of sandles in the room, just discovered it and one pair was brand new. Oh well, no biggy.Wonder what the cleaning staff do with left behind items? Always wondered about that but never forgot anything before?
Even us older people had fun here and met other older people who were there and the casino is really different. Kudos to Hunter and the staff here!

Hunter, really cool of you to take your time to answer everyone's questions and even go out of your way to give people your schedule and tell people to come and meet you. Really cool information you have shared, hope to run into you one of these trips so I can shake your hand. Also very good info being posted by fellow VMBers

Are there any comps for poker and sports betting? Also if someone is playing 20-100 on table games and some small slots would that be enough to earn comp'd rooms?

I'll be staying at PH for the first time Nov 14-17. I am usually a Flamingo person, but am staying at PH since hubby wants to play in the WSOP circuit events. I am "this close" to Diamond. What is the best way to get those final 2,200 in Tier Credits to obtain Diamond?

I'd try to get the 1000 points in a day since you get a 1000 point bonus on it. Not sure if there's a better way.

Best way? Take $3K to the craps table and bet across for a couple hours. Easy day.

A question for Hunter or others. Spouse and I have been through several Host at various Caesars properties. One had to move for family dealings and one actually retired after many years at Harrahs.
The last Host booked us at Ballys for the Great Gift Wrapup with a free play. We always call about 4 to 7 days before arrival to double check things. The host left for whatever reason and we only had the room
and not the free play booked. Current Host on duty stated that could be fixed when we arrive. OK.
How often do Hosts move around? Is it their decision, or Casinos wants new blood? This has happened at other Casinos outside of Caesars empire. Must be tough being a Host.

I will say what some others are thinking. Your play is low. Though comps are based on actual avg play, not even making Plat indicates low play. As to your friends ... they are playing more than they are letting on or getting less comps than they tell you. Your play is low and probably not worthy of a host. Just being honest.

same as any other sales/service job, some leave for better opportunities, others can't cut it and quit or get axed

im gonna say the same thing...your friends are either lying about the money they lose, or they're EXTREMELY lucky (in making their money last, with winning hands)
Or they're not getting the comps they say they are (if you're meaning they get all sorts of comps in Reno...believe me, that's MUCH different than getting comps in Vegas)

Yeah, I agree with nostress & tim, especially the fact that regional comps (in places like Reno) will almost always exceed what is received in Vegas. Also, newer Total Rewards members are sometimes offered/given amazing comps, "over comped" if you will until they have more data on the persons gambling levels at which time the comp's will reduce to where they actually should be.

It's not really a big deal. I think technically you shouldn't do it until seven star when you can have a companion card, but there are much bigger fish to fry than to fret over someone sharing a card with their spouse. That happens to me sometimes where you go to greet.

I wouldn't consider it a penalty. I may be wrong but the morning after your last night doesn't count as a gaming day unless you use a comp or play with your card.

At most of our properties, you need to exceed 100 avg bet for a minimum of 4 hours a day to be considered for room comps. We do not comp any poker or sports book. The reason for that is that it is a type of gambling called "peri-mutuel" gambling, which means you aren't playing against the house, you are playing against other gamblers. We only comp play against the house. Also, poker and sports are games of skill, not gambling imo.

Actually, there is very little turnover. Most hosts stay in their roles for some time. That being said, some get promoted, some move to other casinos. There is considerable competition for the really good hosts between gaming companies. We just had a guy leave to start a carpet cleaning business. Go figure.

You make a good point. Let me use the recent Seven Star Signature event as an example. We have hundreds of Seven Stars in town, most use their annual getaway. The service challenge we face is the difference in play vs. service levels you get from region to region. These customers may be used to being treated like kings, big fish in small ponds you might say, in their local casinos (Horseshoe brand for example). Problem is they get here and they are a small fish in a big pond, so you get this intense clash of "Princess Syndrome" where people are so used to a level of service that we just can't provide because we have higher level customers we deal with. It is a relativity issue. We do our best, but you can't satisfy most people in these situations.

The other issue is traditionally higher tier customers at local casinos get that way by lower, more frequent play, whereas Vegas customers get that way by less frequent, higher level play.

Tier status doesn't always correlate to higher value. It is more of a measure of loyalty, and we make sure to reward that loyalty with perks, but that doesn't always translate to higher comps or service levels.

Also, I'd say about 80% of all gamblers lie about their comps and losses. Some may not be lying about losses, they just don't understand that if you buy in for a grand, win 10k, then lose it, you didn't lose 10k, you lost 1k. Also, I have found that some folks can't subconsciously differentiate where their losses occurred if they split between multiple companies, so to them they lost X, but to us they lost Y. As far as comps, I get lied to all the time. It is amazing that people don't realize that we meticulously track EVERYTHING.

Also, our pit bosses are super good at ratings, it is so rare to have ratings messed up. It does happen don't get me wrong, but people usually don't bring it up until comp discussion time happens instead of during the trip when it should be discussed. One way to avoid that, don't travel with cash, open up a credit line. That forces the pit bosses to pull markers and put them back in, giving a hyper accurate number similar to your card in a slot machine.

Hunter, can you say at what level of play is needed for slot players? And, do you have general guidelines for what would be considered low/mid/high theo levels? I believe that all the comps are based off the theo, so just wondering if there is a general level that it starts to become worthwhile of a hosts time.
    Thanks!
