I've always been interested in Sahara. Would you stay here? Why or why not? Where would the rooms ranked if we compared them to MGM or CET rooms.
Absolutely, I'd stay at Sahara. In fact, should I ever find myself looking for a change from my current property, Sahara's high on my list. I've played a small amount there and watched numerous YouTube videos. I like the vibe. While the Sahara's a bit isolated, it is connected to the monorail making trips into the heart of the strip relatively easy. I'm the type that prefers shorts visits and hangin'-out at one property. My days of running up and down the strip are behind me. The Sahara is big enough to have fun and not get bored, yet small enough feel comfortable. I like what they've done with the place.
I have yet to stay there, so can't comment on that. However, I did really enjoy the old school photos and casino. Played some video poker at the Casbar lounge, good service from the bartender.
It is high on my list to try - I went there and checked out the property while eating at Bazaar Meats (so good!) and saw a lot of things I like. Did play a little there and now they’re sending me 2 nights midweek with $20 FP and RC. Will try it out one day for sure.
I would stay there. The casino can be rather empty at times. And the parking garage (original) has very low ceilings and it is a bit of a hike to the casino. Otherwise it is a fun place. They cut off my offers but that seems to be the norm nowadays with most casinos if you do not visit for more than six months. Their room rates and resort fees are not very competitive however in my opinion given its relative isolation. Although the opening of the Fontainebleau helps.
We have been staying there since the place was reopened after the SLS years we really like the location we always have a vehicle and like that it is easy access to the strip and Paradise and Sahara as we run all around the valley we love checking out the other casinos. The parking ramp is easy access and convenient to get to the check in also the food options are pretty good we like Chickie & Pete's and the Zephyr cafe is pretty good, we did not have a good experience at Jose Andre’s but everyone else seems to love it, have never been to the Mexican Restaurant or the Italian place. We do enjoy the Casbar and the Tangier lounge and have had very good bar tenders and fair success on the bar tops. They have a poker room and the sports book is bill hill in chickie & petes works great when you watch a game and eat there. Most of the slots are of a newer vintage. They have a good selection of table games Roulette, Black Jack, Pia Gow, Craps, have never seen the tables at $5.00 but have noticed $10.00 to $15.00 often. The place is very clean and the employees have been great that we have had interaction with also the comps come pretty easy for low rollers like me. The rooms in the Marra tower are good but we like the ones in the Alexandria tower better, we have never stayed in the Blanca tower so no idea there but we will try them on our next trip, if you book by phone they will always tell you the Marra tower is the best it is not. I find there rooms to be better than the base rooms we have had at the Luxor, Mandalay Bay but the rooms at Aria & Bellagio are better. They also have towels, booze, or shirts & sweat shirts you can get for so many points in a day that changes every month.
It’s a nice enough place. I think the main thing I didn’t like about it is the location. Yeah the monorail is right there, but a lot of things I personally like to do are in the middle or other end of the strip.
It's a pretty good place especially for the price. I'd say the rooms are just as good or better than any mid tier MGM property (Park MGM or NYNY for example). If you want to casino hop obviously it's not the best choice, but unless you have mobility issues, it's not THAT far to other properties. FB is about 600 yards away, RW and WE are well under a mile (that's about the same walk from Caesar's to Aria when you take into account the bridges, etc). You can grab a discounted monorail pass if you really want to hit the south end.
Weekends and holidays have been quite busy but the worst part of that is it makes for a lot of people using the Marra tower elevators and that is why we moved to the Alexandria tower to avoid the crowds there but during the weekdays there has been much less of a crowd and have had no problems getting around the casino also we are not pool people and don’t go during pool season but we have checked it out and it looks pretty nice. I also believe that the airline pilots and stewardesses stay there as we have seen them every time we go.
I've stayed there a couple of times since Covid and will be staying there in the near future. Very few complaints. Parking is free, check-in is quick and with a live body. Beverages were not as obscenely priced as in the center Strip. Monorail gets you to the rest of the Strip in a few minutes. They have a nice little breakfast type coffee shop equivalent, but the line can be long and s-l-o-w at times. Nice little low-key lobby type bar in the rear arcade area. Shower only, I prefer a tub, but it seems like 90% of the LV hotels are now shower only. You don't get nearly as many "Bottles of stuff they give you in the bathroom" (tm) as they did back in the SLS days, but they still have those dark "Don't wipe off your face and f*ck up all of our shiny white domestics" washcloths. Oh, LOL, IANAL, but one who is has stated that the statute number on the "Don't go stinking up our rooms with your nasty weed" sign has absolutely nothing to do with MJ.
Since Covid, I've found that taxi service at the Sahara has been hit and miss. They do have a staging area out front (not in the rear anymore) and sometimes there are ZERO taxis there. The last time I was there I asked the doorkeeper what the taxi situation was and he replied that it was sh*tty, and if I would hold on a minute he would run me downtown in the house car. I remarked that I would take care of him and he was ready to go.
Maybe a lot of their guests and employees are on work release Following because this is one of the places I keep meaning to try again but just never get around to
I looked up the statute, and it prohibits furnishing weapons, illegal drugs, and marijuana to state prisoners.
I did a walkthrough two years ago and I really liked the layout of the casino and it seemed pretty lively for 4pm. My goal for my upcoming trip is to stay at 4 new-to-me hotels and Sahara is definitely on that list of possibilities.
I would say the relevance is more likely due to the proximity of a vendor of same (the real stuff, not the placebo stuff). I daresay it's the only case where a vendor is located that close to a major Strip hotel.
Bad memories!!!!! Bad memories!!!!!! Stayed at the Sahara for my 40th birthday. That was 25 years ago. Worst gambling trip in the history of gambling. I couldn't win even at an ATM machine!
