I REALLY hope this isn't true. I left MGM for Cosmo and haven't looked back!

Nooooooo, Nooooo, NOOOOOO! I seriously would throw myself on the ground and throw ashes over my head if this happened. (Old school mourning reference.)

Cosmo has THE best player program in Vegas. With Identity Gold (Cosmo) I get 2 annual nights free for me (on TOP of the regular comp promos that are usually 4 nights a stay), two MORE nights free for a guest annually, late/early comp checkout, no resort fees, line cuts, and BOGO Wicked Spoon daily with Gold.

With Mlife Platinum, without a host's extras, I only get line cuts and priority taxi. 3 nights max per stay TOTAL. No freebie bonus nights to add on like Cosmo Gold offers, and certainly no guest free rooms like you get with Cosmo gold. They don't even give comped late checkout for MLIFE Platinum!

    Yippee.

Oh yeah, the "Platinum Experience" letter. A nice perk for so-so tier, but that's all you get for platinum, plus MAYBE a partner cruise? You can keep your swamped ports and tight slots on a MAYBE cruise MLIFE, give me Vegas in her full glory, like Cosmo does.

Give me Pearl at MLIFE any day to keep Gold at Cosmo. (And I'm currently Platinum at Mlife.)

I seriously would be heart-broken if this happened....

Not only that, no more staying at Aria and Cosmo on back-to-back offers.

Wynn is putting Echo's in all their rooms... So maybe... But they would have unmanned delivery vehicles deliver it to you. Not drones, but self-driving little cars that run around the resort...

That will give them all color groups on that side of the board. :)

If Cosmo changes hands, best believe it'll lose a lot of it's pull. If any of the big guys buy it, I wish CET would so as to round out their portfolio. But that will never happen.

Regarding Mlife, they have way too many upscale properties, why bother with Cosmo. I don't see how it'll add to their brand other than a vanity acquisition to have a stronger hold on one side of the strip... Which, by the way, many people don't know or care about

Can't help but wonder if this was part of the plan when Bill McBeath left Aria to become president of Cosmo.
He took some management and marketing people with him.
He is obviously connected to top management at MGM Since he was at Mirage,Bellagio,Aria and TI before Wynn sold it.
Nothing to base this on but just wondering.

I don't disagree, but one possibility (and keep in mind that I'm pulling this completely out of my ass) is that in doing so, they'd own every resort on the west half of the strip apart from Caesars and Mandarin Oriental-- well, not past the Mirage, but you know what I mean. They would have full control over a significant continuous stretch of the Strip. That could open up a lot of options in terms of 1.) future development, the same way Derek Stevens keeps buying land downtown, and 2.) transportation. Just as CET more or less owns most of the properties on the Monorail route, they could expand their tram/shuttle system so it's easier for somebody to go quickly from, say, Mandalay Bay to Vdara.

Alternatively, they could just be doubling down on the idea of marketing to "the youths" with their love of bottle service and jewel-toned lights everywhere.

I really hope this isn't true. I had been staying at Aria for a few years and on my last trip I used my offer match at Cosmo and loved it. Also I am sick of dealing with mlife's ridiculous website and customer support. None of my offers are showing up on the website. I called and was on hold for ten minutes so said forget it. Called the next day and was on hold for another 10 minutes. I send an email voicing my frustration. TWO weeks later get an email back saying to view my offers I should check the mlife website or call the hotel directly.

DID THEY NOT EVEN READ MY EMAIL?!?! That was the problem I was complaining about in the first place!

Was hoping to make Cosmo my new home base as I think I am done with mlife. Please let it stay the way it is.

Now that is just cruel Chuck! But yes, you know my shenanigans WAY too well...that IS my favorite way to Vegas!!!!!! (And can you blame me?)

I guess we all will just have to visit Cosmo more to keep it out of MLIFE''s clutches:p

Polo Towers will feel so small sandwiched in a sea of Mlife properties

That would be a shame. Cosmo is such a nice place, friendly dealers, great drink service, beautiful waitresses, good restaurants, decent comps. MGM will send over its corporate dweebs, and they will ruin it.

I wouldn't be surprised if the deal eventually goes through. It makes sense for both.
Blackstone will dump it soon or later and the most likely buyer with money is MGM.
The only losers are the gamblers, i.e., us

I was thinking the same thing the other day about MGM not mixing their business ventures. It's just weird. Which leads me to wondering why you can't buy Crazy Bread or Hot 'n' Ready pizza at any of the Caesar's properties.

I think we all assume this will happen at some point. I don't really spend too much time at the Cosmo. I'd love to stay there sometime but the rates are too high for what I'm looking for and the casino odds are also not to my liking. What I am for in Vegas is more diversification. Things have really gone down hill since there have been only 2 major players on the strip. I always hope the occasional sell off rumors are true even though they rarely are.

Blackstone will cash in soon. You could tell that was the goal from the start. I remember watching an interview with one of the owners of Blackstone after they bought, talking about how he knows nothing about gambling. You kind of think if you're going to be in in it for the long-haul you have to be passionate about your industry. Unlike, say, a Derek Stevens who likes to gamble himself.

In any event, less competition is bad for the consumer. This wouldn't get me too excited.
