    Hey Now!
Just booked an offer for one of these in Feb. It says something about 2 sessions, 30 hands each session.
    What gives???

Have you ever played in a craps tournament before? The full rules are usually given out at the tournament but if you are stating just a portion of the rules in your post they probably mean:
30 hands is probably 30 rolls of the dice. 2 sessions can mean that you may play 2 sessions and then they total your chips over the 2 sessions or it could mean that the second session is just the top 8 players that vie for final ranking. If your invite doesn't explain it clearly, the rule sheet at the tourney will.

    Hey Now!
    here's what the offer states:
There are 2 sessions of tournament play. Each entrant will play one morning session and one afternoon session. In each session, 30 ROLLS OF THE DICE will be played. The entrants remaining money totals, at the end of each session, will be added together. Top ten highest combined money totals will participate in the prize package.

My question is am I playing alone each session?

You are assigned a time and table and the spot on the table when you sign up for the tournament. Something like 9:45 a.m. table 4 #8. You show up about 5 minutes prior to the time at the designated table (some of the actual tables on the casino floor are closed for the tournament) and if you can't find it right away just ask as there is a lot of milling around etc. prior to starting.
Once everyone is present or an announced time is reached, the first toss is made. The play is just like a snapshot of the real deal. Come out roll, everything, seven out. Change shooters until 30 rolls are made. You start with the same amount of chips each session and a total is given after the first session is complete for all participants.

It was actually a lot of fun because at some point you have to make a bet without concern for losing but hitting big (like 100 $ yo or hardways etc.). Once the 30 rolls are complete any undetermined bets are returned to the player. It is counted and recorded and you initial it is correct.

It is fun and take that for what it is. You could get lucky but you will see slow and steady (as you might play with your own money) will get you something around 25th or 100th.

    Hey Now!
sounds like fun. I like the idea of trying out some bets I wouldn't make with my own duckies. Hopefully some other VMBers will be there.
    Thanks for the info!

My strategy was always $100 hardways and a lot of hop-bets.
However, I've seen a guy win buy just Buying the 10, for all his chips, and pressing it 50% eachtime...

    Hey Now!
I found this posted on TA.
sounds like a decent strategy move...

" I played in the Orleans August craps tournament

Each player has two sessions of 30 rolls each and you are assigned your table and session time when you register for the tournament. Each player starts each session with $1,000 and the roll plasses from stick left around the table just like a regular craps game. Theoretically the first shooter could be on a hot roll and hold the dice for all 30 rolls. You must bet at least $10 on the pass or don't pass and regular odds apply as do maximums on your bets(eg. $500 on the hardways). This is all layed out for you in the rules given out at registration. Totals of chips are taken after each round and the final total determins the winner. Top 10 players win cash ranging from $5,000 to $150.

As for strategy it comes down to pure luck and whether you happen to draw a hot table(or cold if you're betting against). As you can imagine, there is some pretty wild betting going on. In our tournament the winner ended up with over $12,000 in chips so must have drawn a really hot table and was betting big $ on prop bets.

My strategy was to be reasonably aggressive. $25 with full odds on the pass line and $200 placed on each of the 4 and 10, bumping it up by $100 on a win. At the end of session 1 my total was $2,600 and I was in 4th place. The second round I drew a much colder table and ended up with only $500 and a final total of $3,100. This put me in 11th place, one out of the money(Yes, my luck ran like this the whole trip haha). In hindsight I should have put the entire $500 on the field bet the last roll( it was a 2). which would have put me in the money.

Good luck! It's fun and didn't cost any entry fee so thanks to the Orleans for treating their players right."

Like the dude said- it's a free tourney (that comes with 3 free nights)- in this case over Valentine's Day and we were gonna be there anyway. Win win!
