The $0.75 seem like a money grab, but there is actually a cost associated with that darn glass of water. I admit I am a bit biased about the whole situation since I have F&B background and it irks me to have a table of 4 ordering 12.95 sandwiches with no beverage sales at all.

For all the money my bank makes off of me and the ever increasing bank fees, why do they need to charge me $3.00 for a paper statement now?

They don't need to charge you. They're fucking you. Same as paying for tap water

I've been on both sides - as an operator and a consumer. I would have felt awkward charging diners for tap water and never embolden to even consider it. I applaud Dick's for having the balls to do so.
When I go out to eat, it is tap water 100 percent of time for me. There is a sense of freeloading guilt for doing this, but that is also my choice of drink at home.
Shouldn't a glass of water be considered part of the overall meal price structure? I think so and as a consumer have no problem paying for it.

of course not, I have a choice....point being that you get charged for a service which was free since forever.
Don't order ice water if you don't want to pay for it.

    I don't disagree.

A wee bit off the subject: All the CET or MGM parkades on the strip are paid, and written-off for decades, so technically they don't have to charge you for it. But they are fucking us for a service they provide and we have taken for granted to be free.
