From what I understand the directors have to approve any higher end suites, though I have a feeling that is specifically for host booked suites. I got told that a specific suite type I was interested in was not recommended because it would have to go through the director approval. Usually host booked room types are more solid on the type than self-booked rooms. My guess is that self-booking a room type means you are more prone to betting bumped down as if hosts lock it up later on or higher level players getting assigned to them the day of.

I have a feeling rooms booked under marketing offers might have less expectation to play off the full value because it's easy to get downgraded because no room types are guaranteed (kind of like an advanced upgrade request where they will only give you the room if they have no higher value use for it), while when a host books the room they probably need to make sure it can be played off at the proper value because once approved it is less likely to go to a higher value person.

    I stole them, obviously. :D

Host came back and said he's going to push for Bellagio for me. I said I can always book it myself and just risk getting bumped, but he was quick to insist he should book it for me, for more safeguards against bumping...I'm sure getting credit for the booking helped. :p

I tried asking about the change to offer policy, he said it was mostly a change that locals would be impacted by, but "players like me" won't be impacted. o_O But that's clearly not true because OlyPhotoG got denied.

This is my take also @ColoVegPlayer

You’ve had those rooms before. If you book they will most likely honor it, bar some insane amount of whales requiring one last minute.

Just to make sure: No freeplay on 2 offers from the same month, but you should still be good if you book like a May and June offer for say like September? Or is this still up in the air.

As an international visitor, i always start and end in an MGM hotel and use 2 offers. But i do have time to book offers from different months.

Common scare tactic my host uses as well. to try to get me to book through him. Chances of you getting bumped are tiny. Only heard a handful of stories of people getting bumped. Even if a host books, it can still get bumped.

You should be fine. Other than the glitches, all the new 'policies' have been in effect since January 2024, if not in writing. I used a March and April offer during a 8 night trip.in April without a problem.

I’ve never had a problem with getting freeplay twice in the same month, even recently. While I usually go through my Bellagio host and stay there, I’ll usually just book regular marketing offers for other MLife properties.

Second redemption in a month usually involves a quick visit to the host office/desk of wherever I’m staying and the host will manually load it in. This should work for everyone, as long as your play levels are consistent.

I never heard anything so lame. I would never go there again if I got bumped. In 30 years of Vegas I have never been bumped. Free play is one thing but to expect a room and get bumped down would be a whole Nother thing for me.

I agree that that's how it used to work, but we now have:

    • The fact that the language in the detailed T&Cs that provided for getting it more than once on the same offer at management's discretion as long as you maintained your play appears to have been completely removed
    • A host now saying you're only going to be able to get it once, and in the context of "The freeplay rules have changed now"

People may get grandfathered in for multiple-freeplay-on-the-same-offer for bookings made prior to May.

Obviously separately, there's something else going on with total number of reservations/total amount of comp value that can be booked.

I see a couple of people saying in the past they've been able to book upwards of 7 reservations. I've never been able to book more than 4 before I started not being able to get nights comped. But I usually go for the best room type they offer me.

So I can see where a player with a much higher average theo than me would be able to book 7 stays in a base room while I could only book 4 stays at my max room type, and never more than 2 at the same property. That would be a function of them being willing to comp an individual player in advance up to $X total amount (possibly some multiple of your average comp value generated per trip), with another possible limitation being either a per property $ cap or number of reservations.

It kind of looks like what the new policy is going to be is to cut way back on what that multiple is. So if the algo was calc'ing your allowable comp value per stay as $2,000, maybe they let you book reservations up to a total of $10,000 before and now it's going to only be $4,000, something like that.

And/or possibly, a flat max number of fully-comped reservations at one time going forward. It's hard to tell what the overall scheme is until someone on the inside reveals it.

I did two redemptions last month, the second one being a week and a half ago. Spoke to a host at MGM Grand and was given freeplay ($1200) after a quick browse at my play. No mention of change in freeplay rules. I didn’t even know of any potential changes until this thread.

Edit: I played way more than usual my last couple trips, so maybe that sweetened the deal? But I do have a Bellagio host, I just usually book regular marketing offers when not at my “home” casino

I hate to admit it, but I think the MGM gravy train is over. The deals were pretty lucrative for quite some time and honestly it’s the reason I stay at MGM. It didn’t make sense to not take advantage of the deals to be able to not have any cost for food and beverage Especially when the simple fact Las Vegas has gotten so expensive. I think it’s gonna be time to go be a big fish and a small pond. See what kind of deals downtown offers after a good degenerate weekend.

Based on my latest offer and the rebooking I was able to do the other day, the offers are still generous compared to theo (aside from yanking multiple freeplay on the same offer), it just looks like you are not going to be able to have as many reservations at the same time. If that's how it plays out, it's definitely going to cramp the style of people who like to plan far out (like me), and people who go frequently. It will also hamper your ability to fully exploit a one-time bump in play level.

I think with any casino change, we really need to just ride it out and see how it all plays out. The optimist in me is hoping that in a few months we can reevaluate and see if hosts have the power to override things again. But the other guy in me is just like, ughhhh…

And @ColoVegPlayer, whoever that person is that needs to talk to his/her host about cooperate changes needs to get on it! #dataislife

Woke up this morning and the remodeled penthouse is appearing on my trips page on the website, so he was able to get that pushed through.

He also offered to get me UFC 303 tickets, which would mean 2 trips in June. I asked if I could get my resort credit and freeplay on top of that, and he said I could get all the RC, and half the freeplay, on top of the tickets.

Of course, remains to be seen if that actually shows up next month.

But maybe there is still some discretion?

Yeah, my bro needs to talk to his host and get all the details ASAP. Hopefully we can get some clarity on all these new rules.

After changing some of my reservations, I believe those $9 for Excalibur, $14 for Luxor, and some other odd prices for other mgm hotels gotta be bugs while they doing their system integration with Cosmo. It doesn't make sense when I have like $1k in fps/rcs and they still want $9 per night from me for a room, LOL
