For clarity: This question can be re-phrased as "If you could be forced to stay on-property indefinitely at any casino resort, which one would it be?". I'm making that clarification because I'm not seeking to make this thread a discussion of "you-know-what" or anything related to it. Indeed, this is a somewhat timeless question in that the question's meaning does not materially differ under pandemic or non-pandemic circumstances. However, I'm phrasing it the way I did because with most of us being isolated/quarantined in our homes, I thought it might be an interesting thought experiment to ask what casino resort you'd rather be "confined to" during a time in which most of us are experiencing confinement.

With that being said, the question speaks for itself. Assume that your chosen casino resort is fully operational (restaurants, gaming facilities, spa, shows, etc.), and you can go about your day-to-day life as if everything in the world was normal, but with the sole condition that you cannot go off-property.

I feel like the Wynn and the Cosmo will be very popular in this thread.

To make it a bit more fun, I'll provide two answers for myself... one I've been to, and one I haven't been to.

One I've been to: Sam's Town, without even a shadow of a doubt. I feel like I'd have a hard time getting bored between the gaming options, the amenities like the movie theatre, the bowling alley, and the pool, and a decent range of dining options. Location-wise, it's in a bit of a comfort zone for me too. I've spent virtually all of my life in more "bustling" parts of big cities, and I find the more out-of-the-way location of Sam's Town to be pretty calming, especially with the mountain views. So if I wanted to step outside and gaze at the scenery, I like having the option of being able to do that. Thus, I can't imagine I'd have any trouble spending weeks or months at Sam's Town, compared to the many other casino resorts I've stayed at. Only downside is no spa, but I feel like I can live with that.

One I have not been to: Probably Foxwoods. I've been close several times, since half of my family is from Boston... but never had the chance to actually visit Foxwoods. I've come to understand it's quite a resort, and between its gaming offerings, food options, and many of the features I like about Sam's Town among others (plus multiple spas!), I have to say I would blindly go for an indefinite isolation/quarantine here.

How about you guys? Where would be your go-tos, whether you've been there already or not?

Sams Town sounds like fun although I have not visited yet. I would choose Mohegan Sun because it smells good, is easy on the eyes, and has plenty of craps, blackjack, and slots. Nice spa. Good food and concerts. My Las Vegas choice would be Main Street because they make beer there and craps. Or California since I could cross over from Main Street through the pedestrian bridge and back when I need beer.

If MSS/Cal can be considered one and the same (which, to be fair, I think they can be) that would be a runner-up choice for me for sure. Only drawback is not much to do there but gamble/eat/drink. I can already hear about 80% of the other board members saying "That's the point" or "What's the problem with that?" :) if you've read my TRs, you'll know that I gamble about half as much as the average Vegas regular, so non-gaming activities are a key consideration for me personally.

Good tip about Mohegan Sun. I'm considering taking a multi-day trip to Stamford CT later this year, and sounds like Mohegan might be worth checking out while I'm somewhat nearby.

Who is paying the bills? :D

I mean, if money is no object, I'd probably stay at the Wynn, and live like a king. But if I have to pay for it, then maybe Circus Circus. :kill:

I'd say the Wynn (pool if open), Flamingo (cheap beer at Bird Bar plus amnetities), Cosmo (Chandelier Bar).

I'd go with Sam's for "never been there".

Mohegan and Fox are a fifteen minute drive apart. Fox gives us rooms, Mohegan gives us concert tickets. I have just as much fun watching other people gamble while wandering around. I don't grind it out at the tables. Two hours at a time is my limit unless I'm having an epic game. You can swim laps in the pool or hang out in the Book Room at Mohegan. Very nice room.

I had considered that part of the equation... but I felt like this thread would be more fun without any such parameters.

For those who have stayed in higher-end accommodations like the Wynn (especially if they've stayed in them enough to have a strong preference), money is naturally less likely to be an object.

Even if it's a sheer hypothetical, I can't see anything wrong with letting your imagination run wild at places most of us couldn't afford :)

Oddly, even if given a "blank cheque" budget, I'd be unlikely to choose anything ultra luxurious like mansions at the MGM or villas at the Bellagio... mostly because since I've never stayed in such places, I don't necessarily know whether I'll like them or not.

Even more oddly, within what you said, while I've stayed at neither the Wynn or Circus Circus, I can say I would objectively prefer Circus Circus in a scenario like this, on account of the Adventuredome and the midway as non-gaming things to do.

Though if we're still working with a "blank cheque"... I might just upgrade my room to suite #1410, which was Jay Sarno's old living space at CC. I've looked into this, it goes for $800 plus tax/resort fee for weeknights, $900 plus tax/resort fee for weekends, for one bedroom. There are several other bedrooms attached, and can be added for an extra cost.

I had a great time in Chicago at the Food Festival. Do you have a Casino there that you would choose to drive to?

I'd say Caesars Palace. I get bored looking at the 'same 4 walls'. Caesars Palace is large enough to give a feel like you're in different places and yet has a very good restaurant line up and spa.

The old Argosy Casino in Lawrenceburg Indiana.
    It is now Hollywood Casino.

I went a little off the beaten path just to be different.

You know, it wouldn't have been the first place to come to mind, but Sam's is a good answer. They have a bingo parlor, movie theatre and bowling alley too, I think. Plus, the mystic falls is nice to wander around in. Good selection of slots too. Only drawback is the buffet is a little smallish, but their lunchtime beef stew is good!

Of places I haven't stayed, maybe Green Valley. I imagine the rooms as being as nice as the casino, which to me is wonderful. The staff there is always friendly and attentive. Such a pretty area too.

Wynn/Encore is probably the most practical choice if you were going to need to stay on site indefinitely. Two resorts to move between, huge pool areas, golf course, two spas, and lots of restaurant/retail options. Their showroom gets a decent variety of acts, not necessarily my taste, but they’re big time names that are probably worth seeing anyway.

My heart would vote for Cosmo, but that’s a tight space. Definitely prefer their F&B and the balcony would be a big plus, but you’d see every square inch of that place pretty quick. The Chelsea gets musicians and comedians that are more in my demo, so that would be a plus. Also I feel like Opium would be enjoyable to see with regularity just to witness the different audience reactions.

Venetian/Palazzo would basically be the best of both the above. You get the space and variety of Wynn/Encore and F&B offerings that are closer to my preferences at Cosmo. They’ve got a giant spa/fitness center to make up for no golf course and less exciting outdoor pools. Plus there seems to be a decent amount of churn in the Grand Canal Shoppes so I feel like there would be more new things to look forward to than the other two.

After saying all that, I really don’t know what I’d choose. I think the amount of outdoor space with Wynn/Encore would make that the smartest choice so I’d feel less trapped, but all of them have their perks.

Funny that you mention this, out of boredom I was planning out an uncharacteristic Vegas trip in which I'd stay on property at one resort for a more "vacation" type experience, as opposed to my usual adventurous hodgepodge. The hotel I chose to build my stay around was Caesars Palace, and I had no trouble tentatively planning out a pretty solid five-night itinerary.

Why didn't I choose it for this example? Gaming. Even if you gave me $10,000 in cash and told me "You could play $200 minimum blackjack in the Caesars high limit room, or $2 blackjack at Poker Palace", I'd choose $2 blackjack at Poker Palace all day. Never mind the value of the money I'd be betting (and that I'm not sure if I could stomach losing as much as one could betting $200+ even if it wasn't my money), I've found that I have way more fun playing with the locals at places like PP. Thus, even for my "realistic Fantasy" trip I'm planning out, I'll still cheat when it comes to staying on property and be Lyfting my way up to Poker Palace after dinner at CP to play some $2 blackjack and some bingo.

As far as staying (mostly) on property at CP goes though... I'm on the same page as you, and for the same reasons :)

Before I even saw my first thought was also Sam’s Town, for the exact reasons you mentioned. Than I thought a little more and figured if they’d let me out the front door why not a slightly nicer version of Sam’s Town and chose Red Rock if I could morning/evening hikes and there’s some type of shuttle that takes me there.

I wouldn't normally stay at Caesars in Vegas, since that place is so huge that I'm always getting lost inside and end up walking around in circles trying to find everything. However, the bigger the property the better, if I have to be isolated at one property. LOL Plenty of restaurants, food court, entertainment venues, the colosseum, forum shops, gambling, etc. which should keep me occupied for quite sometime.
