I'm staying at the DTG in Feb for my first ever stay and visit downtown. For a decade I was strictly the strip and nothing else. Base room quality is important to me which is why I chose DTG. I casino hop anyway so the quality of the casino won't matter too much. At minimum I just don't want to stay in a place that is showing it's age or run down in anyway. The older buildings tend to be more cramped in their guest rooms and casino floor, especially low ceilings on the casino floor. That's kind of a turn off for me.

For that trip I plan to seed DTG, the D, and Cal for future comps. I think those properties fit my bill. (I'm purposely excluding GN and Plaza though as i fear they might be too hard for my bankroll to generate offers) I keep hearing that Boyd is the most generous with comps. More generous than CET?

And am I right in thinking that I can casino hop to all the boyd props and my ADT and offers are all counted in one big pool? Or would I have to stick with cal if i want cal offers and not try to spread it out among the other boyd props?

I’m not sure GN is out of reach for comps. I guess if you play blackjack, or want better craps odds, maybe stay away. Not sure about roulette. But slots and baccarat shouldn’t make much of a difference. And they value players at $100 per hand. I’ve heard $50 and even less. But I’ve screwed around weekends at no larger than $100 at bacc, which is a low HA game, and never had issues with rooms or food. I’ve never experienced snotty dealers. I’ve never had an issue there other than they had some host turnover. This said, they do try to control the crowd. They don’t want people getting free drinks hardly betting at the bar tops. And they police that. They also don’t let people hang out in the entryways if you know what I mean. There are a couple of people on here that are GN regulars and have shared pretty much what I’ve posted here. I absolutely don’t get where the snotty dealer comments come from, or why anyone doesn’t think they don’t comp well. I’ve not seen this. More people tend to dress up a bit more in there, and especially at dinner, but to call it uppity would be a mischaracterization. I like the place a lot.

Plaza for me was good until it wasn’t. I’ve only played craps and a little roulette there. No noise in the rooms. Decent craps. They tried mini baccarat and took it out. It’s a craps only place for me. Oscar’s restaurant is a decent place in my view. And I have some connection to the place even though I don’t play or stay there. I try to eat there as often as I can.

The D can be funny. They are definitely into loyalty. I’ve never really seeded a casino, so maybe someone who has can weigh in on that and how it relates to them being better for regulars rather than blowing in for a day and playing larger. I’d think Circa is the play here.

Binion’s is just sad. I’m only 52 and can remember buying in with $200 dollars and having them bring ham sandwiches and sodas to the table for me late at night. At one time their downstairs coffee shop was outstanding. I wish they’d bring that back.

If I were you I’d seed whichever casino you liked the most, and concentrate on that. If you can, take a drive to Palace Station and check that out. That place has cleaned up a lot. A nice high limits area now also.

I don’t do Boyd downtown. I do go to Gold Coast for baccarat because they have no issues with cigars. I’ve never really played with a card there, but almost always I get offered before I walk out the door, so my guess is that Boyd comps aren’t extremely difficult.

DTG tried bacc for a while, and removed it. I’ve walked through, but only during the day. No useful information on that place.

If you play craps, ElCo if you can find a game. And games pop up in that place at weird times. I played one morning with three others guys all over $700 a roll. The barber (new barber, not Ernesto) is first class. But he charges. But in an very non Las Vegas way, he charges, but also delivers value. He is very good at what he does.

My choices are driven by baccarat, low stakes craps for a change, quiet, nicer rooms, and above average restaurants. And in a very downtown sort of way, you might not find all of these in one place, but going to a different place for a room, a game, or a meal isn’t too much trouble downtown.

I don’t think shows are open, but in the past downtown had some pretty decent shows, concerts and even minor boxing events. It doesn’t get mentioned a lot on here, but you can find some decent entertainment there.

Yes; in fact, after my October trip (last year), my heaviest Boyd play by far was at Fremont but I got my actual room comp offers (and even a slot tourney, but that was cancelled courtesy of COVID :() at Cal/MSS... maybe because I signed up for BConnected at MSS? :hmmm:
