Years ago upon checkin, Ballys would hand out a couple of ear plugs when asked about the noise from close by clubs.
We like classic rock but we also like to have a conversation.

This describes my sentiments exactly. My thinking is if they crank up the music in the casinos to the point where you have to yell to say "press my hard 8" or such it doesn't lend to a pleasant experience imho. I think it would drive people away. I know the D does that to me.

I like lively music. But when my eardrums start to vibrate and the word at every moment is "What?!!" it's just an unpleasant experience.

Well said Topcard. I like music like anybody else but not at the level the FSE and D play it at. My stay at the GG was brutal last year and haven't stayed there since. Got no sleep day or night even with ear plugs. It wasn't much better at the 4 Queens this spring as my room was facing the stage between it and the D.

Even though the music is louder, it's still pretty much the same mix of genres as before - pop, AC, country, oldies, etc. It's not all big dance beats like the D so I hope people don't are fearing that direction for Gold Coast.

Looks like the policy has changed back again, I was there Thursday around 4AM and the music was not loud at all.

Kind of off topic but that hasn’t stopped me in the past.......

I do a lot of chainsaw, weedeater, construction type work and the blue ear plugs at the right, Hearos, are the best disposable sound deadening earplugs I have found. They were even great for NHRA drag races and that is some loud stuff.

Comfortable, cheap, and really effective......even though no one asked

Maybe you need hearing aids? It's not unheard of at our age. (I'm 57, I think you're around that too.)

I carry earplugs everywhere. My SO is quite a bit older and hates his hearing aids. I mostly use the earplugs at home when we sit together watching tv. I also use them if I go to the movies. Every single movie I've been to in the last few years has been far too loud for me. Not picking on you, just saying what's good for me. My SO thinks the D is too loud at night, and he's deaf as a post.

    WHA?

No I think I'm good... I like to feel the music, as well as hear it. My favorite bartop VP machine at the Hard Rock's Luxe Bar is perfectly located "on purpose" directly under a nice-sized JBL speaker. They turn-up the volume there at 6 pm... I love it!

I'm 59, so wouldn't surprise me that my hearing is degraded somewhat from my 20's (certainly everything else has), but I'm fine in hearing low-volume conversations and such. Most people like their music as "background", just to fill the empty space. I prefer it to be front and center. I'm there for a party!

You might remember me from my commercial of a few years back:

Just kidding. I know from your posts that you like it hard and loud.

Do you think that some casinos do loud music better than others? I can't say Hard Rock has ever annoyed me. Neither has Gold Coast, yet. I think it's the type of loud music that can get on my nerves. The D is a place apart: the front is awful (my opinion) the back end is fine, as is upstairs for the most part.

Gosh... these days when in Vegas I mostly go to my favorite casino, favorite bar and favorite seat. If someone's in that seat, I stare at 'em till they move! I did like the D and noticed the volume difference upstairs. I was cool with it. It's been a number of years since I've been over to the Palms, but they used to rock the house too.

I don't really search it out though, I just enjoy it when I come across it. There's a lot more important things to me about a casino. I'm kinda a chameleon too... don't tell anyone, but I can have fun downtown too!

I do believe that some casinos do loud music better than others. But only in the eyes of the beholder. What I'm trying to say is that it's like food: very subjective. A group of people might like the D's loud music for example, while a like number might not.

    Everyone's taste in music varies.

And then there's me. I like lively music that's turned up some, but because of my hearing disability (I have hearing frequency loss) certain levels causes me to not be able to hear conversations. Even at work when there is construction noise around me I can't hear my co-workers or my cell phone.

I must confess when in my truck and there is a song I love I do turn the volume all the way up. After all I'm alone and there's no conversation to worry about, lol!

I really enjoyed the Hippie Pit music last time I played there. Classic rock, but really deep cuts. Not the same old shit on the radio.

Don't bother with earplugs I was there again yesterday afternoon. Music is not loud at all.

I just looked at OP it was his first message and he's been to Vegas 999 times. I think we can assume it's bogus report.

I'll be staying there in a month and see for myself, but have never noticed it being loud at all.

I'll take the loud music over the guy smoking a cigar at the GC. It made me nauseous. Cigarettes I can handle, cigars I can't. Had to move to another area and I wasn't even sitting close to this man. Guess I'll have to get nose plugs (that won't look strange lol).

I was concerned after seeing this thread before checking into GC on Oct. 27, but didn't notice anything different in noise levels from the past several years! I was in the casino by 7 am and pooped out earlier than I'd care to admit, but at least was there for the Cabbage Patch drawing Saturday evening around 8:30. To quote Shakespeare, "Much Ado About Nothing!" :)
