Just wondering from anybody that has flown Westjet from Edmonton or Calgary. Before we always landed in terminal 3 and flew out terminal 3. The last time in December when we landed,we ended up taking some tram to get our luggage and flying out we had to take a tram. We still ended up at the same baggage carousel as usual and flying out of Vegas we still went to terminal 3.. Was that cause of some kinda construction or is that the way it will be from now on.

Haven't flown Westjet, but assuming AC is the same. You are landing and flying out of the D gates now (instead of E). They are between T1 and T3. There is a separate tram that you can take to go to or go from either terminal.

When you landed you had to take the tram to T3 to the luggage carousel.

If you fly in/out of the D gates, you MUST take a tram. There is no way to walk from those gates.

    See this map

Every airport I fly to has a website and it shows the gates, baggage claim, shuttles, etc.

I think the OP's point was that in the past, arrival and baggage claim were in Terminal 3 (no tram required), but most recently, arrival was at Terminal 1's D gates (tram required), but departure was at Terminal 3 (no tram required). It's unusual for arrival to occur at one terminal but departure to occur at another. However, in looking at this airport's website, it would appear that Westjet (and a host of others) now have check-in and baggage claim at Terminal 3 but flights arrive and depart at Terminal 1's D gates. I would expect a tram ride to now be necessary coming and going.

Check in and baggage claim has been at T3 as long as I can remember and still is. The D gates aren't at T1. They are in between T1 and T3 and whichever terminal you want to use you need to take a tram to the D gates. But if you need to check in at the airline desk or if you have a checked bag, you will need to use T3. If you do online check in and/or just have carry on you can use either terminal coming or going but you still need to take a tram to or from the D gates to whichever terminal you choose. The change that occurred recently is that the gates used by Westjet and Air Canada switched from the E gates which are located right at T3 to the D gates which are in the middle.
