First Thing You Do When You Get To Vegas

Yep, had a feeling this subject was brought up a few times. And I'm sure I responded to at least one of them.

For the record, first thing we do: EAT!!

Oh yeah... then we start to drink....

 

unpack and arrange everything in the room...lock up the extra cash in the safe and then go post up on a craps table.

 

My wife and I pound the cheapo champagne Presidential limo has waiting for us.

Then to the 4Q to visit the barstaff we've gotten friendly with, get hammered, and play some VP.

 

When I arrive and get the bags to the room, I unpack enough to make sure my pajamas are somewhere I can find them. I then go down to the casino find a machine and order a bloody mary. I like to start the day with with one. It helps that I usually arrive in the morning. I then start playing machines for a few hours.

 

Unpack my bags and get my computer up and running. After that I usually grab lunch since I prefer to arrive in LV around the afternoon.

 

I usually arrive in the am as well. Check the bag with the bell staff and put a $20 in the bar top and order the 1st of 100s of Fat Tires. When the room is ready, 20 minute shower to wash away 5 1/2 hours of air travel and 30 minutes of cab

 

When I have a rental car I hit up the In&Out on the way to check in.

 

I always try to get into my room as soon as possible, drop off my carryon bag, and within a few minutes hit the casino. For the past few years I've been starting off with a little bar-top VP; and depending where I am, might include a hotdog with the beer. Then it's off to the BJ tables. I'm sure this isn't an overly exciting ritual, but it's what I do. (I used to start off with a shrimp cocktail at the Golden Gate, but don't anymore even if staying downtown.)

 

I try to grab a quick shower. Either I've just spent 5 hours in a car, or 6 hours in airport/plane so I tend to feel a bit stale. Plus since I dress so poorly it keeps the casino from throwing me out assuming I'm homeless.

 

Quick visual check of the room to be sure it's livable. Unpack. Go find the very first $5 or $10 2-deck BJ table I can & buy in for $100. Get a gin & tonic as soon as I can.

 

I had to read that to my husband so he would see that I'm not the only one who does that! I miss the old days!

 

We have the cab drop us off at Stage Door (behind Flamingo)

Pick up beer/soda for the room, and buy a 24oz as well, walk to our hotel usually Flamingo, Ballys, Quad or Harrahs.....

Place beers in room trash can, fill with ice, grab one, head out, usually to Casino Royale for $1 Michs to start... and stumble back to the room several hours later

 

Head to the rental car facility to get the car, then over to In N Out for a couple of Double Double's, go to the hotel, get in the room and go to the bathroom, clean up, etc. and head down to the casino and get my first drink and let it sink in that yes, I'm really in Vegas.

 

Looks as if most of us have a similar ritual- scope out the room, a drink, and let reality fade away!
