Good advice on the cab. Since I just "want to get there" once I get off my plane, I either cab or limo it to DT. Since cab fare has seemed to creep up into the high $30's to low $40's, we now do a $102 airport special from Presidential Limo. With tip, its certainly a bit more than a cab and way more than a bus. But its air-conditioned, has refreshments and takes us (wife and I) door to door without waiting in more lines for a cab. Since I almost always fly in on Thursday, the cab lines can be pretty long, esp if its a late afternoon/early evening arrival.

You want on the WAX Northbound. Both North, and south stop at the airport, but the southbound will take almost a hour to get to downtown. If you're heading back to the airport, the bus stop is between Binons, and Freemont, on the Binions side. You'll want the southbound there, but I think that's the only WAX that stops there.

For a less expensive ride downtown, grab a shuttle at the airport for about $15. Makes a few stops on the way, but a lot cheaper. Tip is less because it's a shuttle service. I always use to and from the airport. Also can prearrange return trip.

I have to disagree with you fullboat. There is only one WAX bus from the airport. It runs from there, through downtown before heading to the Westcliff terminal and then proceeds to Suncoast. The southbound arrives at the airport and terminates it's route. There is no southbound WAX from the airport.

You're right, Joe... but one of them becomes another route at terminal 3 - the CX?
You want to be sure that the WAX bus you're getting on will remain a WAX, northbound bus.
I made that mistake once...never again!

See - this is exactly why I ask! No matter what I do, I guarantee I will pick the wrong bus. Dammit.

For MSS you should get off one stop after Fremont Street. Then you are closer. Same amount of blocks over, but you are on the same street as the MSS entrance.

If it's daytime or early-evening, I would agree...but walking the length of Ogden with luggage, late at night? I wouldn't. Take the canapy stroll and cut over at Casino Center or Main.

I always forget that people are afraid of the dark. That boogey man can sure be scary if you are.

    Not a question of "dark".
    A question of timing.
If you've never seen sketchy people on Ogden late at night/early AM, then you've never walked on Ogden late at night or early AM. I have.
If you've never been confronted by street people on Ogden late at night/early AM, then you've never walked on Ogden late at night or early AM. I have.

Walking with a group, or not carrying luggage? ~shrug~ No big deal.
If you are carrying luggage, why not just take Fremont to Casino Center or Main?

I have walked in the middle of the night with luggage. It is WAY easier than weaving around the crowds of people on Fremont.

Cheaper than a cab, but MUCH slower--twice I have done this (I was solo each time, so cheapest by far) and it took 45 min. one time & 60 min. another.
For more 2, the cost does not offset the time it takes if going to the strip--and if you tell the cabbie to take Paradise, I don't feel it does to DT, either.
    Never again.

$45 from airport to downtown is too much. We always tell the cabbie to take Paradise Road and we usually stay at MSS. The fare is less than $40.

That must have been what I was thinking of Joe/topcard. The southbound WAX turns into the CX, so it takes forever to get to Fremont. Either way, just make sure that the sign on the front of the bus says WAX North.

I left my hotel at about 5:30am to catch the bus last trip. Only people out were a couple security people, a homeless person or 2, and another couple of people waiting on the bus. Much better than at 2pm when I normally get there, and there's people all over the place that never look around/get out of the way.

    Hey...don't mind me!
If you're comfortable walking alone, along Ogden from 4th street to Main street at 2AM, pulling luggage - clearly having just arrived in Las Vegas, and likely carrying oodles of cash, more power to you!
