Hi all! I have some information that might be of use to my fellow medium-rolling VP players, and I bet it would apply to you slot folks too or those who mix up your play. The South Point has just come through for me comp-wise in a way that downtown casinos (well, the one that I do most of my play at) have not. For reference, I play almost 100 percent video poker. I mixed in a bit of baccarat on this last trip but I highly doubt that was a factor.

On my last trip there, I gave them 41 k of coin-in over two days. I did not hit any handpays, but was saved from the brink by a run of good 4oAKs and SFs, especially on multi-hand machines. In the end I was just around 100 dollars down. This volume of play got my junior suite comped (a 392 dollar value), and on top of that, they had a promotion going where all of their dining was half-off if paying with points. So all things considered, I came out ahead at the property, having a great time in the process.

I let the host on duty know that I had really enjoyed my time and wanted to come back soon. She could not have been nicer and more personable, a real change from what I am dealing with at the Four Queens, my current downtown house. (My host at the Four Queens is not a bad guy, but he is not super personable and is very "matter of fact." I am way under-offered for my level of play there and his only response is "our system is weird, you get what you get." )

Fast forward a few weeks, and I am planning my April trip. I email my host and she is more than happy to comp me a suite for four nights (this is around a thousand dollar value for the dates that I am there), and said to charge all of my food to the room. She was even up front in saying that if I played roughly the same daily coin-in as I did on my last trip, I should have no problem getting most of my F&B comped. Of course, I think that will depend on what I charge! ;)

The property always seems to have good promotions going. Do any of the experienced hands here know what promotions are likely to be going in April? Thanks!

Thanks for sharing. I'll be really interested in how your April trip goes and how the comps flow or not after that time. I will be following along on anything you choose to share. South Point is on my short list of potential properties - just based on your experiences alone! :D
