...just an FYI...'cover play' does work there... and keep your spreads modest....none of that 20x base-bet stuff...think 4/5/6 times base as a cap.

Exactly what topcard said. Keep spreads modest. If you're playing single deck probably don't go more than 4x or you'll get some attention.

I'm sure getting kicked out of that "dump" has nothing to do with your wonderful attitude.....

Let me tell you that you can be the perfect gentleman and be kicked out of there... and not only on tables... i know many lets say "smart gamblers" that live in Vegas that cant (and dont want to anyways) play there anymore... Even on Video Poker... and they do have a great attitude cuz I saw them gambling in others Casinos and they are always nice to others including the staff! They dont like winners period... even if we all know that you cant win all time... if you win too much (for them) in a certain period then you are done!

I can confirm that El Cortez is the quickest to collar and ban winning blackjack players.

    It actually doesn't
They don't like anyone with a brain in there especially playing green and black
I'm super nice even when they kick me out

I was just there, and played a little more than my historical average. My summer offer went down to $25 in FSP, $25 in food credit and no 5x multiplier day.

Mine did the same, I played more too, looks like they replaced the 5X day with double pt's all weekend.

So I get the impression that if I want to run $200-$300 thru penny slots at one of the downtown casinos, El Co is the place to do it?

Just got my summer offer from El Co and it wasn't good. 3 Free nights but only Sun-Thurs? WTF? No FP and $25 in food. Here's a copy of what I got. Will have to talk to Nords when I'm there in a few weeks and ask what's the deal. I would think the slow summer months is when they offer the most. And yes, I play a ton there.

My summer offer is the same as my historical offers, except for no longer including a multiplier day. 3 nights Cabana Suite/Tower room, $25 FP, $25 F&B.

My offer is identical to yours....but the same as the ones they've sent to me earlier, except that they had a "pick any day" 3x multiplier...but since I don't play machines, I don't think that really impacts me.
    I'm good with it.

You guys are better than me. I haven't and probably won't even receive an offer from El Cortez. :(
I have to look elsewhere. Which casinos in downtown have good comps for table players?

November and December are the slow months. Summer in Vegas is expensive.

I got the same email/offer. It is probably the first offer I have ever received from ElCortez. I will say last trip I did play some slots for a change. Maybe that’s why I got it.

The consensus from this thread seems to be that machine players are very likely to get Elco offers.

Think a few thousand in video poker coin-in on one night might stand to yield some room offers given current comp conditions there?

For a newbie I would guess yes. My challenge has been maintaining the minimal sun-Thursday offers. I’m trying to step up my fifty cent VP, they definitely reward video poker players more than possibly any other property in Vegas.

I haven't received an offer from them in a couple of years, rightfully so in the last year since when the offers dried up I stopped playing there at all. I specifically remember that they listed out waived "amenity fee", are they still doing that or do they charge on comped rooms now? I really hope the whole cancer of charging resort fees even on comped rooms doesn't make its way downtown.

I stayed at the Cabana Suites earlier this month, 3 nights comped with no RF.
