Dumb question?

Is there a way to only see the new posts w/o going to each section---like on facebook you just push ”f”...???

 

Yes. There is a button at the top of the page that says New Posts. Just click that tab

One other thing that works for me, since I don't read everything, is that when I'm done, I "mark all forums read". Next time I come back, only new posts show, not ones I didn't want to read the last time. That is also at the top of the page.
