I had noticed my last couple of emails to Curt had gone unanswered. Checking his LinkedIn page I see he is no longer there. Does anyone know who the new host is and how accommodating that host might be? Also, we loved Curt and wonder if anyone knows about his situation.
We gave up on Boyd and the last 4 trips we have stayed at Downtown Grand where Curt has treated us very well. Now he has left there and just wondering if anybody knows where he ended up? Interesting that when i texted Curt about our upcoming trip, I received a text back from a different host using the same number. I never realized the casino provided the host their phones. Makes sense I guess, keeps the host from poaching contacts when they move on and Curt seems to move on quite a bit!
Bummer he moved on but he was a one man band at DTG and I’m sure that got a little old. New host: Bella Rodriguez [email protected]
Wow. He was there forever. That's sad. But I (pretty much) gave up on DTG a while ago. Just didn't comp enough.
I see the new host is Bella Rodriguez. I've tried emailing her, but get no response. Does she now have Curt's old cell # ending in 1012? I had some contact with Curt last week. About all he will say is that he is now open to new opportunities. I wondered if anyone has had any contact with Bella.
I also noticed a recent ad for the job and was quite surprised at how little it pays ($33k - $63k depending on experience), though that may have been a base salary and there may be bonuses.
I’m glad everyone on the board liked Curt. Not a great experience with the guy at the Plaza years back. Maybe we both were having a bad day… lol
We had been exclusively staying at the DTG for a couple of years now due to the comps and rooms we got even though the gaming variety is seriously limited. We aren't huge fish, but we generally between the two of us average $12-15,000 coin in per day which I assume is pretty good for most downtown hotels. However, the new Host has ignored our emails and texts looking for something over the New Year's Eve period. I can certainly understand if they can't or won't approve much that week, but it would have been more professional to at least tell me that. I guess I'll end up staying somewhere else and se if I can backend something. Maybe I'll see if we can rekindle our past relationship with Nord at the ElCo. Other than that, does anyone have a good read on which downtown casinos are most receptive to backend comps.
The new host did finally get back to me. The comp offer was fairly minimal, however I was looking for comps at NYE. She ended up giving me a Thur and Mon comped with a significant discount for the Friday, but no help on NYE. We'll see if she does anything on the backend. If I can't get full future comps, we'll just move to another downtown hotel in the future. I like DTG, but the lack of gaming variety doesn't justify putting a lot of money in there if I can't get all rooms comped. In other news, it looks like Curt has found a new home at Silverton.
Hello, I just found out Curt left. I have to say he was very good to me in the past but my biggest issue with the Grand is the lack of set offers monthly or quarterly. Is this just me or do others have this issue. Curt would always get me a suite in the new tower above the casino and some FP but I like knowing my offers before planning a trip when deciding where to stay. If you are getting offers, are they mailed or emailed? New here but thanks in advance for any responses.
My December off was 3 free nights, $75 free play, and $25 food. I was going to stay there in February. Got my January, February offers and it was one comp night(Sunday-Thursday) and $10 freeplay. I hadn't been in there since July so my play hadn't influenced anything. We decided to not bother calling and trying to get a better rate. Our rooms are comped at Excalibur so we'll just stay there. The change in offer though is pretty laughable though!
