I am sure at the higher end casinos there is more judgement from both the casino and players.

Wearing a suit might not put out the image you want because of all the convention business in Vegas. Conventioneers are generally not big gamblers.

    How old are you?

    How do you dress?

Your appearance shouldn't matter too much with those people, as long as you look like you're in the general age range and possibly a nightlife person.

But as the previous poster said - you must not look like their clientele for whatever reasons.

However I find that a bit unusual since they hand those passes out pretty freely and never knew anyone was actually turned down.

I think for many people it's subconscious, and it does affect how people are treated, manners aside. Two people walk up, doesn't matter whether at check in desk, a craps table, a restaurant, a high end store, whatever; one is nicely groomed and dressed, the other not so much. The one that is better dressed will almost always get better treatment. I have personal and business related experiences with this.

I had a client once who was a multi MULTI millionaire, and he owned a nursery/garden shop. His attire was ripped jeans and a shirt. No one would give him the time of day, stores, restaurants, etc. He totally laughed it off but would just tell me stories about how one sales person wouldn't even acknowledge him, but yet their jaws would drop when they saw him checking out with another clerk, and realizing the commission they just missed out on.

Really, in the end, you have no idea. In my opinion, I believe there are more "wanna-be's" and imposters. Because with my experiences, those that have money don't care what others think, but I will admit, for the most part, they do tend to dress better and hold themselves in a different manner.

But boy, if I was paid commission, I wouldn't ever acknowledge the differences.

The higher you roll, the less it matters how you dress.

I noticed my friends (mid 20's) got the nastiest looks I have ever seen in Vegas. They were standing behind me (1 guy, 1 girl) while I was playing baccarat in the HL room. The players, dealers, and pit bosses gave them nasty looks the entire time they were there. I felt bad.

One thing I noticed is that many "Asian" baccarat players do not like American players. This happened a few trips ago. Every time my American friend placed a bet, the asian guy would always bet against him.

I don't know what to tell you.

I never knew they were too discriminating when handing out club passes, as long as you look like the general type of person they want in their clubs.

I always assumed they were only slightly more discriminating than porn slappers.

The other thing might be your race. Sad to say but there is racism against African Americans at clubs not just in LV but elsewhere as well.

My friend is African American. When he has his grill and poppin bottles, everyone is his friend.

All he wears is Ed Hardy, Gucci, etc.

Being Asian myself, I know a lot of Asian players take their baccarat game very seriously. It is not that they don't like American players, they just don't like players that are playing just for "entertainment".

Similar situations occur on the craps table, $100 minimum, and somebody walks up drunk and throws $100 on Big Red or the Field or something....they are not looking at the entire game and not respecting the other players on it.

On the BJ table, same thing, some guy walks in mid-shoe and places his only $100 chip when another player has 10k on the line....he has every right to do so, but surely it will piss the other guy off.

If you notice how Asian players play baccarat, if somebody has a "huge" bet out there, usually if it is a friendly table you don't see anybody betting the other side. Even if I have a slight feeling that the other side might win, I will opt to sit out because it is just the polite thing to do.

So sometimes when friends are joking and making conversation behind actual players at a baccarat room, I can see how that will piss some players off. They can't get rid of them unless it is a private table, so they opt to bet against the irritating factor (in their mind) to try to drive them away. Most of the time I think that strategy fails miserable and they get even madder.
