    I was going to plan a day trip to Choctaw in July and I had even toyed with the idea of another mom-daughter Vegas trip in Oct....but my daughter just got asked to play on a select club soccer team. Fees due in July. Ugh. There goes those plans!

    I guess I would be worst parent of the year if i said no and gambled it away instead. right? lol

    These darn kids, they keep us from all the fun! Hopefully my budget bounces back after that, I can't stay way too long!

    My roof, my teeth and the State Of Maryland tax collector are keeping me from the casinos for at least a year.:cry:

    Ahhhhh the soccer years... each of my girls played competitive soccer, including the "select" teams that traveled. I bitched and moaned almost every weekend while loading up to go, sometime via air... BUT... as soon as the last one finished a few years ago, I sure found myself missing those weekends with the other parents, cheering on the girls. I love me some Vegas, but in hindsight wouldn't trade those weekends for anything!

    @LV Bound- devil's advocate?? Lol

    @Breeze- I hope you can get back soon, dental insurance sucks so I hear ya!

    @smartone- she is 13 and I'm thrilled that she has a passion for something. She has mentioned wanting to play in college. We have an amazing coach and after seeing how extremely happy she was when he announced it, I just couldn't say no. Even if it meant giving up my favorite past time for ever...I think I still would've said yes.

    I'm in DFW as well, and after one night trip to Winstar a few years back I vowed never to return to the Oklahoma Native American casinos as they don't offer me anything I like about gambling (good VP, craps and free drinks). Plus the scene was very depressing, too many wheelchairs and oxygen tanks.

    So consider yourself lucky. Keep the gambling trips limited to Vegas, you'll have more saved up and a better time. If you're dead set on a gambling road trip from DFW I'd recommend the extra few hours drive to Shreveport.

    Good luck to your daughter's soccer season. Keep in mind that the select fee dues may be a good investment in getting her a soccer scholarship somewhere.

    I am sorry that something has come up to keep you from enjoying a casino visit but at least you will get to enjoy her soccer play. I like your reason way more than the reason I won't be making any casino visits soon. I fell off an 8 foot ladder last Friday and shattered the end of my tibia to the point that they had to do surgery and put in a couple of metal plates and some screws to hold things together. My doctor is saying 8 to 12 weeks before I can put weight on that right leg. I do plan to check into wheelchairs at my favorite casinos and see if I can go that route.

    Oh no well I'm glad you are ok. My dad fell out of a tree a few years back and broke his neck. It's a miracle he's still with us and made a full recovery. Get yourself to the casino, find a wheelchair and just sit yourself in front of a machine! LOL I know, I'm not a good influence.

    Pssst....we did go last weekend for 2 hours. Didn't lose a penny so it was a good 2 hours...didn't win anything either but breaking even was nice. Who was I kidding, we just can't stay away!
