Sam's Town (and Binion's) used to offer 100x odds as well. When Sam's Town scaled it back to 20x I asked a dealer there why they did that and she said that over the course of a couple of weeks, they had some high rollers in that got hot and really cleaned up. Sometimes the house can't handle the variance either.........

My guess is that they figure if they can get the money to the table, the player will find a way to lose it. Things get going and all of sudden the players that came for the odds are starting to throw money in the center. My experience at crowded craps tables is that action begets action. If one guy is playing the hard ways, sooner or later others are going to want a piece of that action.

    Just my guess.

Actually, lucky runs in craps do happen. That's why I think the high end casinos shy away from 100X odds. A High Roller or whale on a lucky streak will definitely hurt them.

The low roller casinos imho are gambling just like us when they offer 100X. They figure low rollers don't have the finances or guts to go all the way up to 100X. And even a lucky streak by a low roller doesn't happen often enough to impact them that much. This 100X odds is an advertising enticement to make the game more appealing to the "dreamers" in all of us!

This was exactly my thinking even though I do not play craps. A player like Nate could hurt the higher end casinos with the 100x odds with his limits (if they give high limit players those kind of limits in craps).

Does GN have a sit down?

Yo Yo I remember that about ST and the 'Shoe'...days gone bye or Auld Lang Syne

Ya, more of a table like BJ with high back stools like the GN photo.
Found this on a quick search. Seems GN has one or did have one at their outdoor party pool area.

Tim: I was curious about this, so I called and spoke with the Ron the shift mgr.

It is a craps table, but if I recall correctly the CR table was not as deep and the GN photo looks like it is somewhat a little deeper.

It is usually open at this time of year too, except they are redoing the pool area and all the tables in that area are closed down until completed.

The Casino Royale table sat eight. And it didn't have the chips in a tilted rack like that.

Right BT and was it more like a table top with higher ends? or perhaps half as deep?
    I remember 10x odds
Looked all over the net for a bit and could not find a photo of it.
On their site it does say 100x is back

Tringlomane had it right. There is no edge on the odds for the house. In the long run, the casino is going to "break even" on all odds bets on a craps table. That's why it's not included in your average.

Therefore, by allowing a player to put more of his bet on the odds rather than the passline, the casino is giving up profit. Let's say you have a whale that is willing to bet about 100k per roll on a craps table. Let's also assume he only plays PL & odds. On a typical (3x4x5x) table, on a point of let's say 4 for example, he will be playing 25k on the PL, and 75k in odds. In that scenario, the casino can expect to theoretically "make" $352.50 (25k X 1.41%). On a 100x odds table, the same player, with the same bankroll, is going to bet 1k on the PL and 100k on odds. Now the casino is only theoretically "making" $14.10 in that scenario. Most players (those who at least understand the game) will only bet the minimum amount of money on the passline to allow them to bet their desired amount on the odds.

That is why the higher end casinos don't offer it. They want to make you "pay" for the increased odds by putting a larger portion of your bet on the PL where they have an advantage.

Slum joints like CR can/will offer it because it's a gimmick to get bodies in the door, but they're unlikely to actually take advantage of it. And 99.9% of those who have the bankroll to take advantage of it won't set foot in the place regardless of what rules they offer because it's a small, dirty, casino, and their action would get them RFB at nearly any other casino in town (it would at CR too, but who wants to stay there and how many $1.99 hotdogs and $5 footlongs can you eat?).

Here's another way to look at it. Say you have 100X odds on a come bet of $10 on the 4. Even though you will be paid true odds if the 4 shows, you are still up against the fact that the House Advantage is still 2 to 1 in favor of the devil showing first. Huge risk. I read a book by an oldtimer who wrote a couple things I hope I never forget. One thing is the old 3 point molly with max 3X odds will always be the safest way to play if your betting with the dice. He also wrote that there will never be a long time professional craps player who does not strictly play the don't.
