I love those Treasure Chest machines @ MSS!
I have actually picked a $1199 chest ONCE!
    So, they DO exist.

Yeah, I understand that feeling. But the way the chest breakdowns are, there are good reasons not to show the others, imo.

    1) you might get pissed when you miss the jackpot chest when it actually does show up.

    2) you might get pissed if all 5 chests are 140 credits. And this would happen a significant 28.2% of the time (about 2 out of 7) if they are drawn without replacement. This problem could have been avoided if they programmed it differently.

Like wanker751 said, basically the rng spins for your prize between the 400 rng possibilities until you hit the button for the chest. And your wishing that rng picks zero apparently, or at least a low number!

See I do not play DDB, I usually play Bonus or Jacks. Though I will chose 8/5 bonus over 9/6 jacks. I actually played 7/5 bonus over 9/5 jacks once. Sometimes bonus dlx.

So these machines offer me more for quads that jacks and more for most quads than Bonus.

I like the mystery of em too.

Tring do you think chest selection matters? That they may have been a 1199 in there? Or that the chests are just for show like I suggested?

Not Tring here, but from all that I have read my inference is that if you could see under each chest BEFORE you pick one, there would be nothing there as your win is not determined until you hit the button to actually choose one. As you say, they are just for show. In a sense, the chests do affect the outcome because most players will take a few seconds to decide on a chest while the numbers that correspond to each win continue to cycle through the machine. This is all speculation of course. Wish one of the program designers was a reader of the boards.

Yeah that was how I understood it as well. I would rather it be this way than making a poor choice....

Though I do like slots where I can pick in a bonus game...

I used to have a slot wholesale business and worked on PE+ machines. One thing that tech folks had a hard time understanding is the machine is based on 1991 technology as the game has to be approved by the gaming board and if any upgrade to the machine is done, be it a faster processor or updated graphics have to be approved by the gaming board which takes about a year and by that time the technology is almost obsolete. The reason I am saying this the ability to show what was in the other chests would rake up too much RAM. That's why finding parts for this machine is getting harder and harder to find.

I don't know if this has anything to do with what you wrote, but the Treasure Chest machines at all three downtown Boyd properties have been updated with new flat screen monitors.

Flat screen monitors would be an improvement. While I love the old machines, the screen burn-in is pretty noticeable in certain parts of MSS.

Fremont upgraded their VP to LCD screens sometime between January and July of 2015. This makes me hopeful that those machines will be around for a at least a few more years. I don't think Boyd would have gone to the expense of upgrading those machines with new displays if they were planning to retire them anytime soon.

I strongly dislike the newer VP machines (especially the "wide screen" versions). The newer machines don't have the same response as the older machines. It seems weird with all the improvements in technology, that the newer VP machines have such a "clunky" feel to them. When you press deal on an old machine, the cards are dealt immediately. On the newer machines, the is a split second delay between when the deal/draw button is pressed and when the cards start to appear. The delay is fractions of a second, but it is enough to change the rhythm of play to a point where it gets annoying. Is this me, or do others notice this?

Times change quickly now. Not too many years ago it took an easy 2 to 3 weeks to get a package delivered to your house. Amazon is now starting SAME Day delivery. One reason their crushing most retailers like WALMART . Time for Nevada Gaming Board to get it in gear. Just makes no sense. More and more casino competition out there every year and their making it harder for LV to keep up.

Well I would prefer the gaming control board to be more careful than less careful. But yeah a year seems long for that.
