A casino at the Meadowlands will be a HUGE success. One in Jersey City, not so much. And Newark? That ain't never gonna happen.

I think slots at EWR would be a major hit!

35 murders in over 5 months is a low murder rate for a city the size of Newark. If you are going to use stats to support your argument, please understand the comparative data. A casino in north Jersey would be a huge success. It will further hurt AC, but this is a free market economy.

Hmmmm ... Checking city-data, it looks like the murder rate for Atlantic City in recent years is equal to or above that of Newark.

Well, you can go to Newark and dodge the bullets. I will sit with a drink out on the beach in AC.

My thought exactly!! Where is the wow factor as you head into AC?! The casinos are to blame too though, AC casinos are like a standalone casino, boring nightlife, no places to eat late, its just dead. Whats the point in going to AC when you can just go to a local casino if you want to gamble? AC casinos do not market themselves as anything more then a random standalone casino.

First of all, the proposed casino in North Jersey is for the Meadowlands, not Newark. They are making the Meadowlands into a mixed use destination a la Patriot Place in Foxboro. The location and proximity to North America's 2nd largest metropolitan area will make the casino a tremendous success. New Yorkers will head there in droves.

At least you're a realist. Dodging bullets?
