A friend of mine used his points from Marriott and stayed at Cosmo.

My best friends sisters manages a Marriott and if I ever go out of town, I get a good solid friends/family rate. Never used it in Vegas though.

IMHO, just like in any other city, the non casino hotels are okay to stay at, just that you can't gamble and go to your room after.

In march I stayed at the best western mardi gras inn on paradise road near the convention center. a mcd's a minute walk away and could walk to the convention center if I were attending something. Actually it was quite roomy, "separate" bedroom from the living room, plus a kitchenette (no stove though) with a fridge. I stayed at this place because there was a nascar event and all the other hotels (even downtown) were booked or high priced. I would stay there again if the price was right.

We stayed at both the Ritz when it was a Ritz and the Variously Branded other resort hotel at LLV a number of times. And although there is a casino, the JW Marriott in Summerlin plays out as much like a resort property as a casino-hotel property, and we've likely stayed there more often any place in town.

JW Marriott in Summerlin, last year. Probably the least expensive JW Mariott in the world

I know its attached to the Rampart casino, but its really not a "casino-hotel."
