One of the first things I did after buying property in Las Vegas was to go to the DMV and get a Nevada Seasonal Resident I.D. It's accepted as proof of being a "local" just like a Nevada driver's license. My wife and I use it regularly - particularly for $2 bus tickets and $1 Monorail rides.

    Bill,

I didn't know a Seasonal ID was available. I definitely would like to get one next trip. What type of documentation do you need at the DMV? Would a Real Estate tax bill do it?

    Thanks much for info.

See "Seasonal Resident ID Cards" on the page below:

    http://www.dmvnv.com/idcards.htm

My wife and I took in our Utah DL's, passports, bill of sale on our Nevada property, and a few Nevada utility bills in our name.

Tom, just a bit of advice. Get to DMV before they open and wait outside in line. The lines can be hours long and stretch around the building sometimes. We used the Decatur location and maybe it is different at the other locations?

Yes - one of the first things we will do after unpacking is to trade in our worthless Utah drivers licenses for a Nevada license!

Can you not make DMV appointments in Nevada? I work across the street from of a DMV, in California, and it's fun to see the line grow every morning. Which is amazing because I can make next-day appointments online or by phone.
