    I'm a 10-time visitor to the 702 and just posted a trip report from my family's week-long stay at Flamingo! I am 32 years old and made my first trip to Vegas in high school on spring break in 2000. It's quite a different place when you are 18 compared to 21!

    Anyways, I save up all year to usually take anywhere from $1,500-$2,000 in gambling money on my trips. I play blackjack, craps, roulette, three-card, let-it-ride and penny slots. I am not a High Roller by any means - usually the $10 or $15 tables. My favourite casino/hotels are probably the Mirage and Caesars but Flamingo is the best location and value plus arguably the best pool in town.

    I work in sports journalism and try to make 1-2 trips to Las Vegas per year. Anyway, I look forward to posting on here frequently and hopefully learning some things from everyone!

    Thanks!

    Tyler

    James is from Akron, and still comes to Akron. Where he works is his business. Write what you want about him.

    Welcome to the board, Tyler. Lots of good information here. I will be in Cleveland in two weeks and plan on going to the Horseshoe Casino. I have been there a few times. What is the "local take" on the place? I never did too well there and thought it needed some lower limit tables.
    Good luck. :beer::beer:

    It has limited playable video poker for dollars plus some that's nearly playable for quarters. Never tried the pricey table games.

    It was long overdue. The problem is it's the only game in town and therefore no competition to set table minimums. You can find $10 tables during midweek afternoons but never at any other time. Slots are average, not as tight as you'd expect. It obviously garners a ton of celebrity visitors, not uncommon to be playing bj and look over to third base and see an MLB or NBA player sitting there. It's nice to have to keep your Total Rewards points active. My feeling is if I'm going to play $15 or $25 tables, I'll wait until I'm at Caesars Palace.

    '76 here... grew-up on Greenwood Ave. Did ya have Mr. Applebee for PE? I understand the "old" Buchtel was recently demolished and replaced with a combination of buildings that now includes Perkins middle school (were I also went when it was by Mull Circle). I LOVED growing up in west Akron! My dad worked at WUAB #43 in Parma and got a great promotion to come out to KTVU in Oakland, so we moved. Lotta very fond memories of that town though. Our first house was on Delia in the Delia Estates (which if you've seen 'em are NO estates)... my next door neighbor and best friend from age 3- to 11 was Keith Dambrot who's the basketball coach at Akron U and Lebron's first high-school coach.

    Whoops... I'm hijacking' the thread. Would love to hear more about you Bard... feel free to PM me.
